Assalamu ‘aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,
Praise be to Allah, the Most Compassionate the Most Merciful. We stand witness that there is no god except He and that Muhammad, sallalhu ‘alaihi wa sallam, is His slave and Prophet.
Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said "Shall I not inform you of the best of your deeds, the most sanctified in the sight of your Lord, that raises your ranks and that is better for you than spending in gold and money and better for you than meeting your enemy, striking their necks and them striking your necks?" They said, "Certainly [tell us]." He said, "It is zikr (the remembrance of Allah)." - [Recorded by Al-Albani]
Consequently, we have thought and planned to organise this event that helps us together do zikr and contemplate in the beautiful meanings of Allah’s names, in order to win that what Allah has promised.
On the authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said: "Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever counts them ('ahsaha') will enter Paradise; and Allah is Witr ("One") and loves 'the Witr' (i.e., odd numbers)." - [Recorded by Al-Bukhaari, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasaai, Ibn Majah]
Those names were described as beautiful (husnaa in Arabic) because they describe the Most Excellent and Exalted Creator.
One of the best things one could do is count (ihsa') Allah's ninety nine names: knowing them, understanding them, believing in them, good observance towards them, acting by them, and making du'aa (supplication) through them. May Allah, the All-Hearer the All-Knower, help us on that.
Muslim scholars agree that this hadeeth does not mean that Allah has "only" 99 names. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam, simply tells us that a Muslim who properly believes in and applies those ninety nine names will surely enter al-Jannah (Paradise).
The following authentic hadeeth is a solid proof that there are other names which the Creator did not reveal to us: The Prophet, sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam, said, "O Allah, I ask you by every name that You have named yourself or that You have revealed in Your book or that You have taught any of Your creation or that You have kept hidden, in the unseen knowledge, with Yourself." - [Recorded by Ahmad, According to Al-Albani, it is sahih “authentic”.]
The only names and attributes to be ascribed to Allah are those mentioned in the Quraan or in the authentic Sunnah; they are directly communicated to us and are not the products of opinion and interpretation. Since different muslim scholars have collected different sets of 99 names, all of which reflect great meanings, we have chosen only one collection. The aim is to know Allah, keep His beautiful names in mind, and to make du’aa by His names.
Every three days we will be sharing with you a brief explanation of one name of Allah’s 99 names, an Ayah, and an authentic hadeeth, that reflect, the beauty, the great meaning, and the attraction in the name. We have three days between every two names for whoever wants to memorise the names and keep them in mind.
The aim is ALLAH's mercy and forgiveness. May Allah, the Hearer of All, the Knower of All, the Giver of All, accept this deed as a good deed that carrys us towards His mercy and forgiveness.
