On My Own
(sung to On My Own from Les Miserables)
Sung by Sam

Now I'm all alone at night, no where to go, no one to turn to
With a burden, without a friend, with this here Ring to burn, too.
But now Frodo is dead, and I must carry on instead.

So I must walk alone in dark while Mr. Frodo here lies sleeping
I'll carry on, I'll take the Ring from him into my keeping.
The quest compels me on, since Frodo now is gone.

On my own, pretending he's beside me
All alone, I'll journey to the mountain.
Without him, I'll take the Ring to Fire
And finish this, complete the quest, my choice is my desire.

In Mordor, the land is dry and barren
On I'll go, for Mt. Doom is my errand.
In the darkness, the orcs and ringwraiths seek me
Still I must go or all I know and love will fall completely

And I know it's only in my mind
That the Master Ring feels like it weighs a ton
And although I leave Frodo behind
Still I know that onward I'll go.

I'll leave him, but when my task is over
I'll return and take his bones back with me
Without him, I'll take his burden freely
But can I leave him lying here for orcs to scavenge meanly?

I'll leave him for that is now my duty
All my life I've only lived to serve him
Without me, dear Frodo sleep peacefully
Remember that I will return and guard you forever.

I'll leave him,
I'll leave him,
I'll leave him
I'll journey on my own.
