Since I first posted a message here in July 1999 I have more information about William SLOAN. he was not born in Ashland nor the territory that was then part of Richland County but rather in Jefferson Co. Ohio. His father Oliver SLOAN, his mother Elizabeth MALONEY and their five children including William came to that part of Ashland County that was still part of Richland County.Oliver had a saw and grist mill and was elected Justice of the Peace for Hayesville in 1844. He is said to have been burie in Bushnell Cemetery. I believe there must be some of his descendents stil in what is now Ashland County.

I'm seeking information about the descendants of George MANN. He came to Sullivan about 1818 and raised 8 children in that area. Some of his children were Elliot, Rosetta, George, Mary, J.D. and J. P. He may have had a daughter named Alvina, as there is a Alvina TANNER and son living with him in the 1850 census. Also, his sister, Betsey may have been married to Jesse CHAMBERLAIN who came to that area at the same time. Thank you. Benjamin Kinsey

I have learned much since my original posting. My gg grandfather, OLIVER SLOAN moved to the territory that was to become Ashland County in 1827 form Jefferson County. He is buried in Bushnell Cemetery. His son William married a Bushnell daughter and settl d on land in Richland County procurred by Oliver, his father. I have serious doubts about the said Lodenville which was certainly Loudenville because I know that my grandfather Elzy Sloan was born in Hayesville. I don't know what happened to Elizabeth Mal ney Sloan after her husband Oliver Sloan died.
