I just learned that rumors that my grandmother had an"e"added to our name are probably true. Therefore I amlooking for information about William Sloan who was married to Elizabeth Ann Williams in Richland County, ohio and whose four children were born in Ashland County, Ohio. Ellsey/Elzye,my grandfather was a survivor of the prison camp Cahaba and the Sultana disaster. The three others are John Sloan, who was on the railroad at Peoria, Illinois, William,a blacksmith at Gallion, Ohio and Ruldoph B. Sloan. Elizabeth Ann Williams Sloan was living in Crestline, Ohio in 1892.

I have previously posted a query for William SLOANEI have now learned that the spelling is probably SLOAN. Also it is quite possible that my grandfather Ellsey SLOANE is ELZYE SLOAN a known survivor of the Sultana disaster. I know that my grandfather surv ved because he had slipped away from the hospital to join his camerades on the Sultana but he was detected and sent back to the hospital and thus escaped the fate of the Sultana.Mygreat-grandfather William Married Elizabth Ann Williams in Richland County. Their four children,Ellsey or Elzye, John, William and Rudolph were born in Ashland County, Ohio. Elizabeth Ann Williams SLOAN or SLOANE was living in Crestline, ohio in 1892.

Looking for information on CATHERINE SCHREFFLER who is buried in Ford Cemetery(Aug. 24, 1859, 63y, 7m, 24d). Does anyone know her maiden name? Have a CATHERINE LING who married a SCHREFFLER in Bedford County ca. 1814. Anthony LING, Bedford County, move to Richland County in mid-1830s. Thought perhaps she was a sister.

This is a correction to my last text. In the second last sentence I referred to the children of Willian Sloan and Charlotte Johnson. Actually Charlotte Johnson was the wife of my grandfather Edwin Barrett. I should have written William Sloan and his wife lizabeth Ann Williams.
