SOWERS posted by Penny Bucks on Wednesday, August 5, 1998

I am doing research on the Martin and Mary SOWERS family.Martin was born 1825 in Germany and Mary in 1827 in Penn. They had two sons - John SOWERS born Aug.1848 in Ohio and Christian born 1849 in Ohio. On the 1850 census they lived in Ashland County-Montg mery township, Ohio. After that I cannot find Martin or Mary. In the 1870 Williams county, St. Joseph township , Ohio census , I found the two sons. John 22 years old and Christian 20 years. They also had a girl named Mary 18 years, old living with them I think that she might have been their sister. They were all listed as being single. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Penny Bucks -- [email protected]

CRAWFORD, GOUDY, METCALF, VANTILBURG posted by lois Goudy Holler on Thursday, August 6, 1998

Seek parents and siblings of my ggg grandparents, William GOUDY, b.1782, Va. and Casandra CRAWFORD, B. 1790, Lancaster, Pa. who married 29 Feb 1809 in Jefferson Co Ohio. They moved to what is now Ashland County from Wayne C0 in the 1820's. William died in 1846 and Casandra in 1868? and they are buried in Jeromesville. He was a millwright and a farmer.Their children were Thomas, James, Elijah, Moses, William- my line who moved to Illinois in 1865, Abel who married the sister of William's wife of the VANTILBURG family. John was their last and their only daughter was Polly who married a METCALF. I think William's family may have been from Pa but somes how he was born in Va. or that could have been what is now Kentucky. There was a Thomas and Mary GOUDY and a James and Joyn GOUDY in Wayne Co who were members of the Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church along with William and Casandra. Since they named their first son Thomas and only daughter Polly, a common nichname for Mary at that time, it would seem a close relatio ship existed but I am at a standstill on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BRIDGER, BROTHERS, BRUTH, CRAWFORD, DEYO, FREER, INRIG, PHILLIPS, SMITH posted by Patricia V. Schmauch on Friday, August 21, 1998

Looking for my GGG Grandparents, Lemuel FREER married to Catherine PHILLIPS. Both born and married in NY and came to Ohio in 1832, with his father, Martinus FREER and mother Maria DEYO and their family, to Trumbull Co. Lemuel moved his family to Wayne o., about 1836. They had 14 children, of which are known: Jonas married Mary Frances BRIDGER, both born and married in NY; Daniel FREER m Susan INRIG, married Dec 7, 1842, Wayne Co.; Harvey FREER married Mary BROTHERS (BRUTH) in Richland Co.; John FREER; Randolph D. FREER married Harriett SMITH, daughter of John V. SMITH & Mary CRAWFORD of Wooster, Wayne Co. We are desc. of the Huguenot, Hugo FREER, the Patentee. Lemuel's birth is est. at 1790-1800, but his death is unknown, as well as Catherine's. In a BIO of his son, Harvey, says his father died in Wayne Co, possibly near Rowsburg or Wooster. Some conflict to which county "Rowsburg" is in, Asland (after 1846) or Wayne (before 1846). Other families are in Trumbull / Richland / Ashland and Wayne counties. Need help locating were Lemuel and Catherine are buried. Are there any addresses for Rowsburg cemeteries or the surrounding area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
