BENTZ, FRIEND, SINGER posted by Gale Mostacciuolo on Friday, July 4, 1997

Searching for information on the BENTZ family. Several sources disagree on who the parents of Jacob BENTZ were. Jacob was born in Ohio around 1832/33. He was married to Nancy SINGER in Ashland Co. His death certificate lists Frederick BENTZ and Elizabeth FRIEND as his parents. An 1850 census record for Frederick BENTZ lists a 17 year old son Jacob. However, a county history book lists his parents as George and Mary BENTZ. Another BENTZ researcher recently told me she has another source that lists George and Mary as his parents.

ALLIS, OSWALT posted by cksmit2 on Monday, January 5, 1998

ALLIS and OSWALT - Searching for information on Elmer "Fred" ALLIS and his wife, Alice Irene "Allie" (OSWALT) ALLIS. Allie was born November 27, 1857 in Perrysville. They had two daughters, Vera Irene ALLIS and Emma Rita ALLIS, both born in PA. Fred ALLIS was a photographer in Mansfield, OH probably after 1896 and through the 1900s. I am interested in finding out about Fred's and Allie's siblings and parents, and possibly some background information about Fred's photography career. It is believed that Allie (OSWALT) ALLIS' father's name was Levi OSWALT, and he may have owned property in Perrysville or Loudonville. Fred may have been associated with the following studios and/or photographers : "Bechtel and Sprat, Mansfield, OH", "The Trio, Wooster, Massilon and Ashland, OH", "Campbell and Camp Mansfield, OH", "A. Spharr Baker, Mansfield, OH". He also may have had his own photo studio using the "ALLIS" name. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!
