Life is a limbo dance
But
It's a question of how you get down
Not
How low you can get...

Well, per usual, i was off. Not by much, though... Dunkirk did look pretty damn good. But, as it is, my pick didn't win & Borel didn't get his Triple Crown... but at least Kent Desormeaux finally won a Belmont.
Other than that, i gotta nuttin' else. I'm bored & boring...

We will be forgotten when we're gone...
Belmont Stakes time. Weee?
Anyway, yeah... i'm taking the horse i thought was going to win the Derby, then finished, i don't really remember - 25th or so. But i still think Dunkirk is the class of this field. As for Mine That Bird... well, i always hate a favorite. But actually, i'd like to see him win, if for nothing else that i get to at least see a Triple Crown jockey in my lifetime. I'd always hope to see a horse win the Triple Crown, but i guess i gotta take what i can get.
The picks:
1. Dunkirk
2. Chocolate Candy
3. Charitable Man

"It's awful when it's like this," Dove thought. "And it's like this now."
That's from a Nelson Algren book... & i think it's one of the best lines i've ever read. I don't really know why i bring it up now - Now is no worse than Then... & the Future has already been colored.
I found out a couple weeks ago that Yahoo! has decided to eliminate their free webhosting do-dad sometime later this year, so it looks as though THE Experience actually may NOT outlast me. I was a bit miffed at first, but it's probably for the best. Just more incentive for me to finish other Projects before the Disease finishes me. Oh, how i hate deadlines!
As it is, i hope we're around at least long enough for me to make my predictions for the Belmont Stakes. I'm not really even sure why. Tradition, maybe? Then i'll post something just unbelievably witty & that will be that. The echo will reverberate, i'll laugh & we'll all go on our way...

Alright, fine. Per usual when it comes to the ponies - i don't know shit. Rachel Alexandra ran better than i thought, Mine That Bird ran better than i thought & Musket Man ran better than i (originally) thought. And yes, i hate to say it, but apparently Calvin Borel IS a genius. Selah...
-cpb 5/16, 6:44 PM, EST {link}
SHIT! Now i like the Filly. No... i like Musket Man. Wait, who's Desormeaux on? Ummmmm...
Alright... i'll stick with Friesan Fire...
-cpb 5/16, 6:01 PM, EST {link}
Most peculiar, Mama...
We're limpin' in, but it's Preakness time again. You gotta hand it to Calvin Borel... the man is either an idiot or a genius. Personally, i think neither... i don't think the Filly will win & i don't see Mine That Bird finishing anywhere near the money. I like the Derby fav in a rout... but ya never can tell...
1. Friesan Fire
2. Papa Clem
3. Rachel Alexandra

Strange days, indeed...
The run is about at an end, it seems. THE Experience is being dismantled as you read this... spiritually, at least. But, even though i haven't been following the ponies much lately, i do have to get on & throw out my Derby picks. I hate picking favorites, but i really liked I Want Revenge. And now that he's been scratched, i hate to say it, but i really like Dunkirk, who was the morning line favorite (although i think that's changed). I also liked Win Willy, but he got scratched as well. And now i just don't goddamn know. Of course, there's always Hold Me Back, who i like just cos i've got a boner for Kent Desormeaux.
Anyway... on with the Show:
1. Dunkirk
2. Regal Ransom
3. Hold Me Back

Well, well, well...
Indeed, indeed. It HAS been a while.
Unfortunately the offices of THE Experience were washed away in a flood... & after everything was sorted out it seems as though most (or, more to the point, ALL) of the staff staked out higher & more prosperous ground. And more power to 'em. As for the future... well, we'll all just hold our breath & see what happens. The Fun is in the not Knowing...

Alright, fine. I don't know shit...

Super Bowl Sunday, 2009. Wee.
I said a few days ago i thought Arizona would win. Admittedly i wavered on this, but then Andy told me he was going with the Steelers. All is well...
Arizona - 31
Pittsburgh - 17

So, it's been awhile. Deal with it.
What can i say? What do you want me to say? I'm fuckin' busy here, huh!
You haven't missed much. Or have you? Who's to say? Me? You? I don't know. I can't really tell anymore.
Well, let's get caught up. In the past month or so i may or may not have...
-made out with a clown in full clown make-up.
-cut a record with Nick Lowe, Peter Hope-Evans, John Weider & Mark Brzezicki.
-bobbed my head to a song.
-got drunk, at some point.
-lost about ten large on the stock market.
-almost spilled the beans to a friend of mine about a short affair i had a couple years ago with a (now) local television news anchor.
-smacked Anita Bryant in the mouth.
-went out with a woman over a decade younger than myself.
-got in trouble for saying the words "Super Bowl" on television in a non-sanctioned manner.
-smoked some Columbian grass with a Kenyan guy in Washington, D.C. Or maybe it was Kenyan grass with a Columbian guy.
-messed around & got a triple-double.
-showed Andrew, yet again, to never bet sports with me.
-had a bowel movement so disturbing i had to call 911.
-got fucked in the ass by my bank. Literally. I was actually fucked in the ass by a building.
-split my pants.
-signed a 12-year extension with the Red Wings.
-ate a bug.
-got a job as a logger. Lost it. Cried & then got the job back. Lost it again.
-made a complete ass of myself while interviewing actress Vera Farmiga, yet rebounded, slightly, in my own way.
-had sex with my shrink.
-cried, laughed, smiled, spit, cussed, prayed, then lived to tell.
Some of these things are true. Some are not. About half. Or so. I'm not really sure any more.
Anyway, the 'Big Game' is on Sunday. Whippidy-do-da-dey! Although i hate to go against any MAC quarterback, let alone TWO OF 'EM, i got the Cardinals winning 31-17. I reserve the right to change my mind, but i probably won't. I am nothing, if not stubborn. Selah...
-cpb 1/29 {link}
Well, it was a lot closer than i thought, but unfortunately i was right. At least it was a good game. And although i know it must have been hard for him, i was glad to see that Thom Brennaman could take Tim Tebow's dick out of his mouth long enough to do the play-by-play. It's over now, Thom... you can get back down on your knees...
-cpb 1/9 {link}
Hate to say it, but i got the Gators tonight. By a lot. Fuck Florida, but i think they're gonna take a huge dump right on Oklahoma's chest tonight. And Oklahoma's just gonna sit there & take it. Wird...

Well, after about six months, Bowl Season is almost at an end. My beloved MAC went 0-4, the Big Eleven was almost as bad... & apparently the Pac-10 is the Shit (in a good way). Speaking of shit, there were my picks. I was starting to wonder how my picks were so bad... but then i realized a more relevant question was probably - How did i do so well before?
As for the NFL, not much better. I was in a Pick 'Em league & ended in dead last... by a LOT. However, i did pick all four of the Wild Card games correctly last weekend. Of course, i have no proof of this, so you'll just have to take my word for it. You can trust me...
Anyway, it's a New Year. Yee-haw...
I had planned to shut THE Experience down. I even wrote its epitaph. But then i figured, what the hell? No one reads it, plus it allows me to have conversations with myself, like this one, in a wholly unconventional way. I like the idea of the New Technology aiding in my insanity...
A couple new editions to The Corner: uno & doo-eh. That's it. That's all i got. Go home...
