| September 19, 2002 What did you learn the other day when you stayed home from school the other day? Can't Hardly Wait has a lot of semi famous people in it. Besided the people who were already semi-famous when the movie was made such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Melissa Joan Hart, Ethan Embry, Jerry O'Connell and Seth Green, there are also people who have become famous since: Lauren Ambrose and Freddy Rodriguez (both Emmy-nominated for Six Feet Under), Breckin Meyer (Road Trip, Rat Race, Inside Scwartz...ugh), Peter Facinelli (The Big Kahuna and the new TV show Fastlane), Donald Faison (Clueless and Scrubs), the Shermanator from American Pie...Wow, what an amazingly average cast of supporting players!!! Where as the American Pie cast has made a string of teen movies, this cast has set there sights on television stardom. Where would you all be without me to give you this information. Glenn, tell me a joke. In Maxim this month: Q: Why do men pay way more for car insurance? A: Because women can't get blow jobs while driving. Badumdum! Had to be included after all of the road head talk this past week. Jeff and I failed to make good on our promises....I'm ashamed. What is the funniest quote ever? In this month's Rolling Stone's interview with a very stoned Craig Nicholls, lead singer of The Vines, when asked if he has ever been in love, "I think so, I think I fall in love about thirt times a day. Maybe more. I'm not sure. But yeah, I'm definitely in love. I love Tony Hawk. I love Coca-Cola. Maybe love is bad. Bad medicine, it's what I need. But if you ask me if I'm gonna get married, I don't know. I could marry Natalia Imbruglia, but I'm too busy, and she's too busy, and she probably hates me. I would marry Meg White, but she wouldn't have me. I could marry Winona Ryder, but I'm sure I'm too boring for her. I don't think she knows who I am, and I don't think I could hold her attention span. I don't have a girlfriend at the moment, but then I don't have time. At the moment, I don't think a girl would come near me because I haven't showered in weeks. I'm gonna get that worked out. Women respect a man who can wash himself." Craig Nicholls is absolutely the best interview there is. Pick up the magazine with The Vines on the coverand read the article...you will not regret it. Can you be equally in love with two girls at the same time? This sounds so familiar, so I'm sure I have answered this question before. The answer is an unequivicable yes. Of course that complicates things...it is not nearly as fun as it sounds. I was in that position once and I handled it as well as anyone ever could...in other words, I royally fucked it up. Ahh, the memories. Why is every magazine and newspaper doing a story on how "Rock is back!" and grouping The Hives, The Vines, The Strokes, BRMC, and The White Stripes together? I think the rock critic is desperate for good music. The five bands above are always grouped together, but they are not really all that similar. The Vines are manic, The Strokes detached, BRMC has a dense sound, The Hives posture with stage presence, and The Stripes are raw. If I had to rank order them from favorite to least favorite, I'd go Strokes, Stripes, Vines, BRMC, Hives. And you all know I still love the Hives. Although they aren't too similar, the fact that they all go back to the basics seems to excite a lot of the critics into a frenzy. I'm going to Blockbuster tonight...what are some unheralded movies I should consider renting? Two Ninas, Sneakers, Nurse Betty, State and Main, American Movie, Roger and Me, Way of the Gun, UHF, Love Stinks, Tigerland, The Closet, Arlington Road, Amores Perros, Beautiful Girls, Waking Life, Pump up the Volume, Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Hoop Dreams, The Player, Sexy Beast, Dark City, Clay Pigeons, Trekkies, MASH, This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, High Fidelity, Bottle Rocket, Slap Shot, Diner, Roger and Me, Mallrats, Zero Effect, The Last Seduction, Out of Sight, Three Kings, Walking and Talking, Heat, Dog Day Afternoon, Return to Paradise, Donnie Darko, Shooting Fish, The Game. These are all movies I sorta likes, except for the two George Clooney pics, none are in my top 10 .I could continue that list forever... |

| Amazing Tales from Elementary School By fourth grade, we were already tired of all of the girls at J. G. Masters Elementary. So when a cute transfer student came to our fourth grade class, we were at her mercy. We were more than at her mercy...we were tools. We let this girl have her cake and eat it too...at various points she dated my friends Art, Zach, Jaron, and me, often at the same time. So finally, my friend Art and I developed some self-respect...and a plan. We were both dating her at the time. At recess one afternoon, Art and I approached this girl. In unison, we said "1..2..3..We dump you!" Simultaneous dumping... we were proud. She even cried. Amazingly, we became friends in high school |
