| June 25, 2002 - It is Tuesday, almost, so we all have to gear up for another night at the Marquis. After all of the memories accumulated there over the years, I felt that it was my duty to give something back. With that in mind, I would like to present my Ode to the Marquis, a six verse limerick poem. Who said English majors nver learn anything applicable. If anyone is interested in adding there own verse, I'll gladly put it up. If you are not a Rice person, you probably want to skip this column...to those who are/were, enjoy! ODE TO THE MARQUIS There once was this dive, The Marquis For drinkers, it's the place to be Windows it lacked But on Tuesday, it's packed Cause they serve four-fifty ice teas. To call the place drab is too kind But the regulars don't seem to mind They'll order a drink And not even blink As the thick cloud of smoke leaves them blind. Now I can't say the bar has much charm And you always must watch out for harm Cause at the the end of each night There is always a fight And the barkeep must break a few arms. Well the bartender, his name is Al And it's easy to become his pal All one must have Is nice breasts, a firm ass Or a sister, who's a good-looking gal "This place sounds pretty bad," you may say, ""And the atmosphere sounds pretty gray Why do you go?" You may want to know I'll tell why we continue to stay The reason, dear friend,,I'll regale, Is us guys are looking for tail Our hope is a flicker That a whole lotta liqour Will make us look good to females. |

| Broken, beaten, distracted by factors both present and distant...yer the Munoz family still could not defeat me in water basketball. They had home pool advantage, they had half-naked girls trying to throw me off my game, they had the advantage of height (Jeff) and rules (Greg). They still couldn't stop the fadeaway. They're just lucky it wasn't a real basketball court with fully dressed girls... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
