In this page, you will get to explore the mind, events and feelings of a Chun Jui... ok, fine, judging from the past 24 years, my life is far from what you call "eventful" (in fact, "dull" might the be more appropriate adjective) but I'll try to keep my entries interesting!

Wow, what a long time it has been! Ok, many things have happened since the last update, some of them namely being my interview with the York Region District School Board, which is the Board I really want to work for. The second main thing that has happened recently and had great impact is the crashing of my hard drive of my PC (I'm updating right now from my laptop, which has been having its own problems too...). I didn't realize how dependent I've become on my computer until it crashed recently--- my entire life (that could be stored in bytes) was on that thing. I felt crippled without my PC but luckily, I've become reacquainted with my laptop, not having used it much since I brought it to HK, nearly 4 years ago...

Anyway, the interview: I managed to muster up the courage to ask the principal of the school that I did my internship at for one and luckily for me, she agreed readily to one. Then, after a few weeks, I had to muster up some more courage to contact her to set up a date for it. Again, she responded readily and an interview date was set. During the next 5 or 6 days until the interview, I was nervous, preparing myself, going over what exactly my teaching philosophy is (had to come up with one!), updating my resume and portfolio, etc. Finally, the day arrived and of course, we were hit with a snowstorm. :S So, I woke up extra early and left my house extra early, being prepared for the long drive there. Surprisingly, it didn't take much longer than it usually did, so I got to the school really early. Using that time to mentally prepare myself one last time, I felt that I was ready to impress. :P I went into the school 15 minutes before my appointment, greeted the secretaries and the parent volunteer, who all recognized me, and sat, waiting. FINALLY, fifteen minutes after the appointed time (9 am), I was ushered into the principal's office. Anyway, to make a long story short, the principal AND the vice-principal both interrogated---, I mean, interviewed me, somthing I didn't anticipate. Being the idiot that I am, I had only brought one copy of my resume, leaving the VP having to make a photocopy of the one I gave to the principal. Pages and pages of similar questions and about 45 minutes later, I was sweaty but finally done. :P The principal then went on to give me lots of advice and tips about what I should do next, which was very helpful. Actually, should I take it as a good sign that even before the interrogation---interview, really, interview!---began, the principal was already telling me about all the possible openings at that school for the next school year?? (The interview I had was officially with the Board, not just specifically for that school). Anyway, I feel that even though I didn't really knock their socks off, I did well enough, enough for me to have a slight sense of confidence in actually landing a job at that school.

After the interview, I went to visit my internship class and my mentor teacher. It was such an ego boost just to see those kids again! When I poked my head in, they were on the carpet in the middle of a lesson but once they caught sight of me, they were no longer paying attention. :P The teacher tried in vain to go on for a few more minutes but gave up and laughing said, "Ok, fine, you guys look like you're gonna have a heart attack! Go line up and give Ms. Ng a hug!" hehehe... Being the angels that they are, they ACTUALLY lined up to hug me!! How sweet! A girl slipped me a note, which read: "Ms. Ng, can I come to your wedding when you get married? If you do anyway." HAHAHAHA!!! The other kids swarmed around me, shouting out things like, "I missed you Ms. Ng!", and the ever popular, "Can I have your autograph/email/phone number/home address?" :D One kid observed "Wow, you're like a movie star, Ms. Ng!" hahaha

Speaking of ego boost, I've only recently finally been able to go on Friendster (had many problems before... don't know why) and the lovely Viv, my ONLY Friendster friend :S so far, had left me two messages from waaay back, so it was kinda weird to read them now! hehehe... she also wrote a testimonial about me and it was soooooo sweet!!! Thanks Vivee!! :D If you're on Friendster and I know you, look for me on Friendster, although I'm not sure how frequently I will log in...

And speaking of friends, a friend recently told me that I'm too nice and not being selfish enough. :S I had told her some of my past experiences and she was astonished at how I let other people take advantage of me. In her opinion, the fact that I KNEW I was being taken advantage of and let it happen, it shows that I don't love myself enough. That point hit home and for the rest of the day, I was walking around thinking about myself in that light. Am I hurting myself when I insist on "doing the right thing" and being nice to others even when I know others are not appreciative/aware of it? I have my principles and a conscience, and I strongly believe in karma. Oh, the joys of growing up and discovering yourself!
