In this page, you will get to explore the mind, events and feelings of a Chun Jui... ok, fine, judging from the past 22 years, my life is far from what you call "eventful" (in fact, "dull" might the be more appropriate adjective) but I'll try to keep my entries interesting!

One week wasted. Most of Reading Week was whittled away by procrastination, my worst enemy. I did nothing fun (didn't even see my friends!) nor did I do anything very productive. In fact, I don't even really remember what I did last week... I just remember a lot of watching TV and eating chocolate... =P

Even though I had a book report and a research report hanging over my head, I still managed to finish reading the latest novel that I bought. It's called "Life of Pi' by Yann Martel. It is absolutely one of the best books I've ever read (even though I say that with every book I read!). It is a wonderful tale of a 16-year old Indian boy who is shipwrecked right in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. He is the only surviving human from the cargo ship he and his family were sailing on--- although he ain't the only surviving life form. On the life boat with him is a 450 pound Royal Bengal tiger, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a hyena. Why? Because his father is a zookeeper! Anyway, Yann Martel does a wonderful job of using words in such a way that it's easy for the reader to imagine what's going on. As the reader, you feel the joy, the pain, the grief, the frustration, the loneliness, the desperation, and sickness of Pi's (the main character) ordeal of floating aimlessly on a cramped lifeboat in the Pacific for seven months. I highly, highly recommend it. It also makes you look at life in a different perspective, and learn not to take even the smallest things in life for granted.

I got Viv's postcard from Japan the other day!! =P So sweet of her to think of me even when she's having so much fun. It was kinda funny because I was just reading an email she had just sent me when my mom called from downstairs that I got a postcard from Japan! Double dose of Viv in a matter of minutes... =P Anyway, THANKS Viv, for the postcard and continue writing about your crazy, wacky adventures in Japan!

What is with this snow??? My muscles are sore from the shovelling yesterday... ughh... A preschool kid from work today tried to give me a massage. heehee... it felt more like a fly tapping me on the shoulders! =P I miss spring and summer--- didn't the groundhog miss his shadow? Doesn't that mean spring is coming soon? But Groundhog Day was more than two weeks ago and it's still winter...=(

I got pictures developed and I promise I'll post them as soon as I finish writing my research report!

I had my interview with one of the OISE grad programs that I applied to today! Unlike my York interview, I was completely mellow and not nervous at all.... so weird! =P Anyway, I think it went really well, the prof who interviewed me was very nice, and the atmosphere wasn't tense at all. I think I may have a good chance of getting accepted because he said twice that he is "looking forward to seeing me"! =) I hope that means something good! And, to make today even better, another OISE grad program that I applied to (the Master of Teaching program-- the program that I was interviewed for today is the Master of Arts in Child Study and Education program) called me after I came home and booked an interview with me!! =D It's scheduled for next Thursday at 6 pm, so cross your fingers for me!

Speaking of interviews, I actually did another one for my college, Innis. I was asked to do an interview about my Sociology Specialist program for the Innis website. The interview was fun because I was able to talk and yammer on and on about myself, and someone was hanging onto my every word!=P Trust me, I don't get that very often--- especially not with my grade 2 students!! =) Anyway, I managed to go on and on and I talked so much that the tape on which I was being recorded ran out!!! hahahahaha..... the interviewer thought it was funny because that hasn't happened before in all the other interviews that she did with the other students... hahaha. The poor girl had to go home and transcribe the interview too--- must have taken her 20 hours or something! Anyway, she's edited the interview already and I had already given her the "ok", so it should be posted on the Innis website soon. I'll put up the link here later and if you're bored and are desperate to do something to pass the time, you can read all about the interesting stuff I droned on and on about!

Lastly, while we're on the topic of academics, a GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!! to GOLNAZ for her acceptance into the Master of Sociology program!!! For those of you who don't know, it is really difficult to get in because only eight out of a hundred and something applicants get accepted! I really can't think of anyone else more deserving to get accepted than Golnaz. Gol works really hard, has amazing perservance, and is the smartest girl in the Sociology Department!! =D She's also the president of USSU (Undergraduate Sociology Student Union). I'm so proud of you Gol!

So how much chocolate did all of you consume from Valentine's Day? =) I'm in chocolate heaven because I got a lot from my preschool and grade 2 kids! =P I also got a lot of those cute V-day cards from them! =)

P.S. I've finally finished my roll of film with all the pictures I took during the Christmas and New Year holidays--- but I forgot to pick up the pictures from the store today, so I as soon as I get them, I'll try to post them up!

Long time no update! Things have been too crazy for the past few weeks, so I didn't have the time nor energy to update here... Anyway, I am extremely tired as I write this but I am waiting for my turn to use the bathroom, so I thought I just do a quick update. First of all, I have an INTERVIEW with the M.A. in Child Studies and Education @ OISE next Monday! That was probably the best news and the highlight of these past two weeks. I had given up hope for this program because I hadn't heard from them for so long, and I knew that applicants were selected for interviews. Then, when I was least expecting it, they call me up and arranged an interview date with me! =) The nicest thing was that they were very flexible with their scheduling with interviews, unlike York who expects everyone to drop everything in their lives and go in for the interviews at that fixed time or else you're disqualified. =/ Anyway, I was too busy and stressed out about my test and seminar to really think about it but now, it's starting to sink in... and I'm getting all nervous!! Wish me luck!

Second of all, Chinese New Year was really great, and despite all the work I had to do, I managed to take some time to enjoy it with my family. I took pictures of our dinner, and as soon as I get them developed, I'll post them up!

All right, the bathroom's free now and I can't keep my eyes open any longer now, so I will update more later! ]

P.S. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
