Halo Efect

 
Step 1

Make the background black.
 


You can use any color as the background but black gives the most dramatic effect. Details of
altering the background color.

Step 2

Change the shadow color. Normally the shadow color is black. Black on black is invisible so change the shadow color to a light color. We've used light blue which shows up well on screen. Details of changing the shadow color.

Step 3

Alter the shadow blur and transparency.
 


You can only just see the shadow behind the text so we need to make it bigger.
Click to display the Shadow dialog box. We used a "Transparency of 0" and a "Blur of 50" but you may prefer different value, especially for Blur which sets the size of the Halo.

Step 4

That's it. By changing the text color and light positions you can use the same technique to create some stunning results like this:
