Rules for FAST Packs:

FAST (Fuel and Sensory/Tactical) Packs are listed by a standardized naming convention (e.g. NP-BP-19).  The first part  is either NP (for combat  Pack) or NR (for a Recon Pack).  The second part  is BP (if mounted on the back), AR (if mounted on arms),  FB (if mounted on the legs), or WG (when mounted on the wings).  The third section of the name is the fighter that particular pack was first designed for.  All FAST Packs provide the following bonuses and penalties when equipped:

Bonuses:

  • +1 bonus to dodge in all modes while outside of a planetary atmosphere.

  • +20% to maximum speed when flying in a straight line.

  • Trans-atmospheric capabilities; VFs are able to achieve orbit over an earth-like planet under their own power.

Penalties

  • -1 penalty to dodge while flying in a planetary atmosphere.

  • Explosive; unless otherwise noted, a FAST pack will explode violently when its MDC reaches 0. If the computer is functioning it will automatically eject the damaged part. If it is not, the pilot has one melee action to eject the FAST module before it explodes. Modules that explode do 1D6x100 MD

VF-17 Fast Packs:

Due to the unique design of the VF-17, special  FAST Packs compatible only with the VF-17 are necessary.  Like those Packs chosen for the Phantoms and Silverhawks, the following are considered standard ordinance for all Heartbreaker missions.


NP-BP-17 FAST Pack (Particle Cannon)

  • Damage Capacity: 150

  • Range: 1600m

  • Damage: 2D6 x10

NP-AR-17 FAST Pack (2 decoy bays ea.)

  • Damage Capacity: 75

  • Anti-radar Chaff: 10 per bay

  • Thermal Flares: 10 per bay

NP-FB-17 FAST Pack (1 missile bay ea.)

  • Damage Capacity: 120

  • Short-ranged missiles: 15 per bay

  • Medium-ranged missiles: 6 per bay

  • Long-ranged missiles: 1 per bay

NP-WG-17 FAST Packs (4 max, 1 bay ea.)

  • NOTE: Each pair gives -2 to the Stealth ability of the plane.

  • Short-ranged missiles: 6 per bay

  • Medium-ranged missiles: 3 per bay

  • Long-ranged missiles: 1 per bay

  • Light bomb: 4 per bay

  • Medium bomb: 2 per bay

  • Heavy bomb: 1 per bay

VF-19 & VF-11 Fast Packs:

The following set of Packs was first designed for the VF-19.  They are designed to be compatible with the VF-11 however, and so they have been adopted by the Rim Expeditionary Forces as standard ordinance  for all Phantom and Silverhawk missions.  Note that the NP-AR-19a's can only be used if the pilot opts to not use the Excalibur's shield.

NP-BP-19a FAST Pack (2 missile bays ea.)

  • Damage Capacity: 150

  • Short-ranged missiles: 15 per bay

  • Medium-ranged missiles: 6 per bay

  • Long-ranged missiles: 2 per bay

NP-AR-19a FAST Pack (1 missile bay ea.)

  • Damage Capacity: 100

  • Medium-ranged missiles: 3 per bay

NP-FP-19a FAST Pack (2 decoy bays ea.)

  • Damage Capacity: 110

  • Anti-radar Chaff: 20 per bay

  • Thermal Flares: 20 per bay

Reconnaissance FAST Packs:

When the SSF formed the Rim Expeditionary Force, they required sensory power beyond even the NR-BP-E7.  The E9 Recon FAST Pack set is much more powerful than its predecessor, and the special E9b variant is  uniquely configured to be compatible the stealthy VF-17 Nightmare.

  • Damage Capacity: 110     

  • Short-ranged missiles: 12 per bay

  • Medium-ranged missiles: 4 per bay

(2) NR-BP-E9b Package (Heavy Laser)

  • Damage Capacity: 150

  • Range: 1600m

  • Damage: 1D6 x10

VF-11 Full Armor Package:

Not really a FAST Pack set, the full armor suit for the VF-11 is used primary for heavy assault missions. VF cannot transform out of Soldier mode while the armor is attached.
