Ship's History:

"The Aerie may be Admiral Morgan's flagship, but the Eagle is the pride and joy, the emblem, and the soul of the Rim Expeditionary Forces.  If she is lost, than we are lost.  We have given up too much time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears to abandon her now."
--
Captain Zoë Chanal

Even before her maiden voyage, the Eagle has had a rough existence.  Admiral Amberdate himself signed the order which sent the newly finished ship back to the construction yards before her launch.

The Spacy Corps of Engineers then spent the next sixty days upgrading every section of the ship.  New radar absorbent materials were added to her outer hull, and advanced active stealth systems were installed to even further decrease her sensory profile.  A new battery of sophisticated and experimental sensors were added as well, and a slight weapons upgrade and enhanced fire-control systems make the UNS Eagle the single most expensive frigate ever built by the UN Spacy.

Originally commanded by the now infamous Captain Falkner (known as "the Jackal"), her captain and executive officer were officially listed as missing-in-action after only two missions.  Shortly thereafter, sabotage in the engineering section crippled her.  In the confusion, it is believed that Captain Falkner accomplished the theft of several reactive weapons, as well as information regarding the Rim Expeditionary Force's mission.

During the emergency, Lieutenant Commander Zoë Chanal, a communications engineer on loan from the UN Navy, assumed command of the vessel.  After the official formation of the Rim Expeditionary Force, and the assignment of the Aerie as the flagship,  Zoë Chanal was offered and accepted the command of the Eagle, and has since personally recruited a command crew from the best the Spacy has to offer.
