Chicago in my mind had always conjured up images of gang violence and mob rule as a result of prohibition, so I had always been a little wary at the thought of visiting this particular city. But if one travels across America by train, as I have done frequently, it is almost impossible not to end up in Chicago at some point, and thus I found myself in the city with seven hours on my hands. I made good use of the time, walking from Chicago's Union station to the Sears Tower and going to the top of it, and then on down to the waterfront, (Lake Michigan)passing under the world famous "El " ("The French Connection" and "While you were sleeping" are two films in which it has appeared!) in the process. I have been back to this interesting city three times since the photograph below was taken and will add more photographs of the city to this page in due course.
