| Mostly in Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, although not exactly the prettiest of parts of the United States of America, is certainly one of the most interesting. For it is here that can be found one of the biggest collections of hot springs, geysers and boiling mud holes in the world. At the bottom of this web page you will find a photograph of one of the most well known, and most photographed, of all the geysers in the park, "Old Faithful", so named because it is possible to predict fairly accurately as to when it will blow. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I spent a total of five days in the Yellowstone National Park, exploring it very thoroughly during this time. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As a result I took a great many photographs, and I shall add more of them to this page in due course. During that time, we saw elk, bison (buffalo) swimming Yellowstone river, and black bear, (fleetingly!) And that was in addition to the canyons, waterfalls, geysers, hot springs and mudholes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Below "Old Faithful" in all its splendour, photographed from Geyser Hill. Most people, especially if they are in a hurry or on an organised tour, photograph Old Faithful from the Western side, adjacent to the Visitor Centre and the Old Faithful Inn, but the view from the Eastern side, at the observation point 150 feet higher, gives a far more spectacular view, as can be seen in the photograph below, taken on August 11th, 2002. |
