MAINE (ME)

My first visit to the beautiful state of Maine, the most north easterly of the 50 states of the USA, was in July 2002, having gone to the State mainly to carry out a book signing in Ogunquit, an attractive resort on the Atlantic Coast.

I then travelled further north east up to Bar Harbor, again on the Atlantic coast, not so far from the Canadian border. I only had one night here, but it was long enough for me to decide that I would really like to come back here again sometime. The photographs below were taken during that very brief, but very enjoyable, stay.

The following States will be covered specifically in due course: Arizona; Arkansas; California. Colorado; Florida; Illinois; Louisiana; Maine. Michigan; New York; Ohio; Texas; Utah; Vermont; West Virginia; Wyoming; and Hawaii! (one of the most amazing places that I have visited so far)

Left Some of the shops in this very attractive (and expensive! ) harbour town, almost on the Canadian Border.  From very near to here it is possible to take "The Cat", a high speed car ferry, reputedly the fastest car ferry in North America, from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth , Nova Scotia.
