Fifty States, many different climates, numerous different landscapes from sprawling plains to rugged mountains to rocky and wave swept coastlines, many different races, several different cultures, and a diversity of people and cultures too great to take in from just one visit. This is my overall  summary of a country and a nation that cannot really be comprehended in just one trip to it.

These pages form the basis of my various visits which have amounted to to some seven months in total, to The United States of America, with some of my thoughts on this vaste and cosmopolitan country, together with photographs of some of the places to which I have been in my various trips to the USA.

New York, What better place to start? I have lost count now of the number I have been in and out of this fascinating city, a city that bustles day and night, although contrary to popular belief the city does actually quieten down after the shops close, which is usually by 10 pm at the latest.

Postscript. Between June 1998 and December 2002 I spent a total of 7 months months in the USA exploring, visiting people and generally finding out as much about the country as I could. But since the situations created by the Americans in both Iraq and Afghanistan, interferences to which I could not condone, my appetite to visit again has been seriously reduced. Sorry America, you have some great scenery and some lovely people but please get rid of this warmongering attitude of yours, and then I might just come again..
