In the map, a forty ton crane can be seen to be situated near the top of the Western Wharf. This was meant to raise and lower a bridge which enabled ships to enter the inner basin.

By the sea end of No 2 dry-dock can be seen the shed that housed the town's Lifeboat.

The lifeboat was housed in the docks ever since the first arrived in Falmouth in 1867. Lifeboats would remain in the docks until the land was required for re-development for new dry-docks. They left amicably in 1918.
