Time

Clock Tower with Generator house in background.

The clock tower shows us time.  It looks out to the four corners of the dockyard. It sees whatever is happening. Minute by minute, hour by hour and eventually year by year. A strange thing time. It never leaves us. It tells us to either hurry up or to slow down depending on the circumstances. However, the clock is there to be observed by all and sundry. It is a guide for all the workforce. The clock never concerns itself in how many times it is looked at as it always knows that it has the last laugh. The men cannot leave work until the correct time has been reached. Whenever this happened, the yard and surrounding areas were entertained by the infamous hooter or whistle. The sound didn't last  long but everyone could hear it.  It was fitted on one of the stacks of the generator house.
