Docks Tours Since 2001 the docks has been opened for the public to take advantage of a tour. With the aid of a mini bus and a guide, visitors are able to travel to various parts of the dockyard, walk along one of the wharves, visit the Engineering workshop, see the dry-docks, (hopefully with ships in them), and listen to some of the historical background of the docks. It lasts for about one hour. In 2001, about 1300 people took the time out to visit and, in fact, one or two have come back again in 2002. The photos are of two scenes taken of the tour. The first one shows Falmouth Camera Members by No.2 dockside, and the other a group of "up country" tourists after their visit. Over 2000 people have enjoyed their visits and hopefully more organised groups will take advantage in 2003. One of the things that amazes the visitors are the sizes of cranes used in the yard. The photo that can be seen here - taken by one of the Falmouth Camera Club - is of the County Wharf Crane. Lifting ability of 25 tons.
