His Tree

No greater gift could they give
Than the one they gave that day,
His birthday was the day they chose
It could have been no other way.

A tree was planted in his name
Right there for all to see,
Each time a person entered there
They walked right by his tree.

Those special children honored him
Because he honored them each day,
In life he gave his time to help
Each child in his own way.

The day the children planted his tree
One by one they had their say,
They told those gathered what he did for them
Be it work or be it play.

Now the tree eternal grows
A symbol of life it assumes,
Showing that we never cease to be
When each spring anew it blooms.

Jarrett's Mom

This is the weeping cherry tree that grows in front of Southside Middle School in Columbiana, Ohio.  This tree was planted in Jarrett's memory on his birthday just a few weeks after he was taken away in a tragic dirtbike crash.  The tree was planted by the students he had volunteered his time to help.  The students of the multi-handicap class in his school.
