Jimmy Vs. Kurt Part ?
...And in this corner weighing in at 250lbs it's Mr. Excitement, Jimmy Spencer!! And in this corner weighing in at 150lbs soaking wet it's Mr. Rubberhead himself, the ear flappin, trash talkin, run and hide when the situation gets sticky and the most hated driver on the circuit right now...ladies and gentlemen, it's Kurt Busch!! Ok ok, not exactly a Vince McMahon production but you all get the point. So where do I want to start, lets all go back down these two "gentlemen's" past. Pheonix, Kurt pops Jimmy, later on, the famous bump and run at Bristol, and then the Brickyard, which leads us to Michigan, generally a boring track. Not so this time around heh? Well, for those in a cave for two weeks, lets recap.. Kurt and Jimmy get together AGAIN. Kurt Busch pops Jimmy Spencer towards the end of the race. Jimmy doesn't get a bad finish, but it took him out of contention for the lead. For all his hard work, Kurt Busch runs out of gas allowing "No Neck" Ryan Newman to steal another victory. After the race, we all know what happens. Jimmy comes up to the Sharpie/Rubberhead er uh Rubbermaid ford and decks Kurt Busch chipping a tooth and, poor baby, gave him a swollen nose. In the events that follow we find Jimmy Spencer fined $25,000 and gets to sit at home and watch Bristol. Which by the way the probation put on Busch wasn't enough to make him not pop Sterling Marlin and eventually win the race. Now, as usual, I have probably offended someone by now...but wait, there's more! That was just the news, this is the Soapbox, it's time for how I really feel. Back a few years, there was a race in which afterwards, Michael Waltrip politely walked over to Lake Speed's car, took the window net down and popped him one, and then proceeded to walk off politely. Did "Mikey" have to sit at home the next week? Nope. Yes I hear you gearheads, "But Jimmy and Kurt have a past and NASCAR had to do something." True, NASCAR had to do something, and yes they should have sent Jimmy home, however, after listening to Kurt Busch talking to his pit crew about what he meant to do when he hit Jimmy's car, I believe Kurt should have had to sit at home also. I mean come on, if you are going to take out a man who was more or less defending himself, why not take out the idiot that caused the problem? Either they should have sat them both down for the weekend, or they should have let them both race. I know that drivers say all kinds of funny and sometimes damming things on their radios, that's why the Racing Radios booth at the track is so popular. Fans can get the scanner and the driver's frequency to listen to things like Ray Evernham calling Mike Wallace a nimrod. Or my personal favorite, at The Winston, the late Dale Earnhardt telling Richard Childress how NASCAR could mess up a wet dream after letting the cars go too early causing a big wreck. How hard is it to get your hands on what Kurt said, my guess is half the fans heard it as well as NASCAR. SO when Jimmy went to swing at Rubberhead, he had plenty of reasons behind that fist. Kurt got exactly what he deserved and Jimmy is man enough to deal with the consequences. My feeling is simple, if you don't start any there won't be any, and if it is sitting there, it doesn't stink until you stir it up. So Kurt, you want to make a reputation for yourself in NASCAR? You obviously stepped on the wrong person.
Of all the drivers in NASCAR to mess with. you picked the one that can kick your skinny butt all the way back to Vegas. One more thing before I leave....
