With all the trouble the Government is giving the tobacco companies, is Winston Cup racing going to be Winston Cup for much longer?
I don't think so. With the growing popularity of the sport, I think that they will have no choice but to find another title for the Cup.
As popular as it is to be anti-smoking these days, if NASCAR expects to keep growing at the pace it is now, they will have to conform. In my never to be humble
opinion, they should stay as the Winston Cup. All of these senators and anti-smoker lobbiests need to find something better to crack down on.
There is still a major drug problem in the US. I am not talking about nicotine, I am referring to marijuana, cocaine, heroin... that sort of thing. Being from
the great state of North Carolina, I know what tobacco means to my state's economy. If you take tobacco down, you are going to destroy the home of NASCAR, North Carolina.
They have already retired Joe Camel (The world's biggest scapegoat) and replaced him with the regular Camel. But enough with my griping about the anti-smoking BS in the world, let's talk about possible new series names.
Here is my top five picks for the new name for Winston Cup.
1) The Nabisco Cup
2) The Jim Beam Cup(they aren't cracking down on liquor! This might work!)
3) The Windows Cup (Bill Gates has the $$$ maybe he will sponser the thing!)
4) The Don King Dash Series (Don lost Tyson for atleast a year, maybe he wants to try to promote Dale now!)
5) The Ted Turner Racing Championship (Hell, he owns everything else, why not NASCAR? All the races would be on TBS starting at 1:05)
