CART Suffers a Tragedy: Greg Moore

Regretfully, I can't say anything funny, or take a jab at a driver in this article as I usually would. It seems an all too constant theme the last few years that tragedy makes a mark on motorsports. Racers like Tim Richmond, Rob Moroso, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, JD McDuffie, John Nemecheck, Elmo Langley, and Fireball Roberts were all taken too soon. Another driver joined the race in the clouds above on October 31,1999. In The final and deciding race of the 1999 CART season, once again, tragedy stuck. Greg Moore, driver of the Forsythe Racing Mercedes died in a wreck that can only be called catastrophic. Words can not explain what I saw in his final ride. Admittedly, I am not the biggest CART fan, nor will I probably ever will be, but if you keep track of their division, you know the name Greg Moore to be one of the future stars of the Champ Car ranks. He finished in the top 10 in the final season point standings. Juan Montoya won his first CART points title today in his first full year of competition. His championship day will be forever tainted with Greg Moore's death. To his family, I extend my deepest sympathy. To Greg, you will be missed and tell the boys up stairs to make room for the Player's Mercedes......rest in peace. Thanks for listening.
