Dale Earnhardt

Words can not quite begin to describe my emotion after the Daytona 500. I could use shock, sadness, depression, mortality, but none could quite sum up how I felt after learning that Dale Earnhardt was killed in a wreck at Daytona. The biggest name in the sport, quite literally a living legend in our sport just gone in the blink of an eye. I'm not sure what the sport will do without him. Yes, the show will go on, but will it ever be the same? No. I, like most race fans, went to the race track just to see Earnhardt. Whether you wanted him to win or lose, you wanted to see him. Now, just like that, he is gone. I would like to address some of the aftermath of his death. First of all, to the fans that made death threats to Sterling Marlin. What in the Hell are you thinking?? Sterling had no more to do with that than anyone. The man was merely racing. To the fans that made threats to the Simpson Racing staff, you all need your head examined too. Forty years those seatbelts have been used and this is the only documented case of failure. These people are human as well, they can make mistakes. I respect what Dale Jr. said, and I think that you people ought to as well. He said that no blame should be placed or will be tolerated. Things like this happen, yes they are terrible and I will not try to discount their severity, but they happen. Mourn the loss of the hero, trying to avenge him is not a great way of doing that. Quite frankly, it is stupid. The media convicted Sterling Marlin of hitting Earnhardt, but it's not like he meant to do it. It was a racing accident pure and simple. I know it's hard but we have to let it go. Last but not least, the people of the Orlando newspaper trying to print the autopsy pictures. WHY??? What purpose could it serve to show the pictures of Dale Earnhardt's autopsy? Please do his family and all of his fans a favor. Stop exploiting Dale Earnhardt's death. It's not worth the 50 cents to buy your paper to see that. Anyone who would buy the paper to see it are sick. Let the man rest in peace. Let his family deal with his death. Let the racing world deal with it. We don't need you trying to make a cheap buck on it. It's morally wrong. Personally I wouldn't give you a penny. We miss Dale, we will always miss him, I would much rather remember Dale Earnhardt as the man that made me watch the race. We love you Dale, and we'll miss you...... thanks for listening...
