1000. 05.01.00 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: WPR, Sec, Rick: The Society saw in the new millennium with a traditional meeting at the "ALEXANDRA" where Youngs was had by way of beverage.

1001. 18.01.00 LONDON EC1 - CLERKENWELL: Sec, SAR, Rick, GR. The Sec decided to conduct Rick to his usual Clerkenwell haunts, starting at the "OLD MITRE" where some room was found in a chilly upstairs room. The party moved on to the "JERUSALEM TAVERN" which was unpleasantly full and smoky so the visit was short and only a half of St. Peter's Ale was had. The rest of the evening was spent in more relaxed surroundings in the "CLOCK HOUSE"", Leather Lane, and well-kept Abbott was consumed by way of liquid sustenance.

1002. 30.01.00 KENT - GILLINGHAM / ALLHALLOWS: Sec, GR. The Sec was collected by car from Gravesend, and Sunday lunch and Youngs at 1 a pint was had at the "SHIP", Gillingham Strand, with pleasant conservatory overlooking the Medway Estuary. Toby Ale was then sampled at the "BRITISH PILOT", Allhallows, a large and forbidding looking establishment on the seedy estuarial beach. This proved to be much more convivial inside, with remarkably large Sunday lunches being served, the roast lamb appearing to be half a sheep, complete with rib cage. One fellow customer, finding it all too much, placed half of his on a stick and fed it to his Rottweiler, which was tied up outside. The GR then returned the Sec to Gravesend, encountering some illegal motor sport competition on Cliffe Marshes en route.

1003. 03.02.00 LONDON W1 - FITZROVIA: SAR & N, Sec, Cleuza & Duncan. Directors and wine were taken at the "CAMBRIDGE", Goodge Street (where Rick & Judy were encountered having an independent meeting), before a convivial Indian meal was had at the "Palms of Goa" restaurant in Charlotte Street.

1004. 17.03.00 LONDON W1: Sec, Rick. Rick & Phil performed at the "DUKE OF YORK".

1005. 20.03.00 LONDON W1 - MARYLEBONE: Sec, WPR, GR, Rick, BS. "HORSE & GROOM", Great Portland Street; "OLD DEVONSHIRE ARMS" (food), followed by a wine bar style pub conversion in Marylebone High Street (name to be checked).

1006. 01.05.00 KENT - WHITSTABLE: SOS & Val, SAR & N. The SOS took the party to East Kent and had lunch at the "DUKE OF CUMBERLAND", a spacious establishment. The party moved on to Reculver Towers and Sandwich.

1007. 06.05.00 LONDON SE1 - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Chair, WPR, COB, Sec, BS, GR. The meeting was held, as is traditional, in the "ANCHOR". No significant Society business was transacted but quite a lot of beer was had.

1008. 09.05.00 LONDON EC3: SAR & N, Sec, WPR, Gary, Jerry, Tim, John (all of Group Audit, Lloyds TSB). This party met in the recently created Wetherspoons ex-banking establishment, the "CROSSE KEYS" in Gracechurch Street. Members and one or two of the visiting auditors complemented the beer with a Chili con Carne. Stonehenge Heelstone was the guest beer; also some Spitfire was had.

1009. 19.06.00 LONDON SE1 - WPR'S BIRTHDAY TROUT: WPR, GR, Sec, Rick & Judy. The WPR treated members and numerous other friends to a trip on the "London Eye", followed by lagers at the "NATIONAL FILM THEATRE" bar-restaurant, and food and wine at the "PIZZA EXPRESS" beneath the Shell Centre.

1010. 07.07.00 LONDON W1 - FITZROVIA FESTIVAL: Sec, WPR, Rick & Judy, BS. Rick & Phil performed outdoors at the "DUKE OF YORK", following a performance by the "Strumming Codgers", an even more mature covers band. The event was filmed by the WPR, and also watched by Judy, Sec and BS.

1011. 29.07.00 KENT - FAIRBOURNE HEATH / LINTON: GR, Sec. SAR & N. The GR provided motorised transport to the Society, picking up the SAR & N at Merstham Station and the Sec at his residence. Members proceeded south west via Channel Rail Link works to Fairbourne Heath, where Lunch was had in the "PEPPER BOX", named apparently after an ammunition container on a gun rather than the eponymous and widely forgotten 1970's instrumental hit. Despite being miles from the sea, Beach Volleyball was taking place in an adjacent field. After a short stop at Sutton Valence Castle, the party had further refreshment in the "BULL INN" in Linton, whose garden was in need of refurbishment. Then members inspected Stoneacre (NT), the village of Loose and a prehistoric burial site called Coldrum Long Barrow, before retiring for tea at Gravesend. The GR, SAR & N then took one and a half hours to proceed from Gravesend to Dartford.

1012. 08.08.00 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: SAR & N, WPR, Rick, SAR's Mother (Alexandra only). A traditional meeting which started at the "ALEXANDRA" where the SAR's Mother moved the meeting from inside the pub to outside it. Youngs "AAA" summer bitter was tried but Ordinary was preferred in general. Members eventually moved up the hill to the "ROSE & CROWN" where dinner was had despite the kitchen having officially closed. It was not clear to the SAR whether the cook took up his offer of a whisky as an incentive to prepare the meal, due to his inability at this stage to count his change.

1013. 28.08.00 BUCKINGHAMSHIRE - BRILL: SOS & Val, SAR & N. The SOS conducted the party to Boarstall to inspect the Duck Decoy, and later the Tower, In between the party had Lunch, and Greene King IPA, at the "RED LION" in Brill; reasonable though not outstanding.

1014. 30.08.00 ESSEX - LEIGH-ON-SEA: SOS, WPR. "THE PETER BOAT" was visited for sandwiches, Courage and peanuts, as a prelude to the SOS's car tour of his eponymous region.

1015. 31.08.00 LONDON EC3: WPR, SAR, COB, Sec, EAR: The "CROSSE KEYS" was the venue for consumption of Grianstore Triple B, Timothy Taylor's Ram Tam, Abbey Ales Bellringer, Bomber County Tom Wood, London Pride, Lemonade, Orange Juice and Lemonade. Mr. Timothy Oxton, of Lloyds TSB Bank PLC, was formally elected as a Member, being assigned the title of the EAR (East Anglian Representative), following his purchase of a second round for Members, and his delivery of an impressive Manifesto which eulogised the aims of the Society. Furthermore, the Society agreed to outsource the function of SLBS Webmaster to Mr. Eduardo Fajardo of Brazil, who noted this event by the simultaneous consumption of Beer in Rio de Janeiro. It was agreed that final release of material to the SLBS web site must be in control of Committee members however. The COB arrived late and missed all that, but managed to prolong the meeting until about 10.30 p.m.

1016. 19.09.00 LONDON W14: SAR, COB: The "RADNOR ARMS" was visited for 2 pints of Everards Tiger prior to Vegan Cuisine at the COB. During the meeting the police questioned patrons about a murder which took place shortly before the meeting outside the pub.

1017. 28.09.00 LONDON EC1: GR, Sec, SAR: The GR and the SAR met primarily in the "KING'S HEAD", Northington Street, and then met the SAR going in the opposite direction trying to locate the meeting. The expanded party moved to the "OAK" in Gray's Inn Road, the Sec and GR staying for food and the SAR taking ages to get home by bus.

1018. 29.09.00 LONDON EC3: COB & Sue, SAR & N, BS, GR, 2 x COB's colleagues, 1 x COB's ex-boss, 2 x COB & Sue's lady friends. This party met in the "CROSSE KEYS" in order to send the COB & Sue off to Australia. Members consumed Chili con Carne.

1019. 25.11.00 LONDON SW1: SAR & N, Sec, Michael of Frankfurt. Members met Michael of Frankfurt, founder member of the Zinn Society (also Baccanalian in nature), at the Radisson Vanderbilt Hotel in Gloucester Road, from whence the party walked to a bus stop in Earls Court Road, where it waited 45 minutes for a C3 bus not to come, with a view to taking the German visitor to Wandsworth to see the Youngs Brewery. The wait was curtailed by the Secretary, who indirectly invoked the ECM by threatening to go home if he was still at the stop at 19:30. Therefore the meeting abandoned it's original plan and instead proceeded on the District Line to Embankment, and thence to "OLD SHADES" where three rounds of Youngs Ordinary were had. The Secretary then went home and a final drink was consumed in the "LORD MOON OF THE MALL"

1020. 26.11.00 LONDON N6 - HIGHGATE: WPR, SAR & N. The WPR threw open his residence to the SAR & N, and showed them various schooldays memorabilia. A Meeting then took place in the "PRINCE OF WALES" in Highgate Village, where a leisurely lunch was had accompanied by Beer. So leisurely was the lunch that it was beginning to get dark when the party left, so a quick appreciation of "Waterlow Sunset" was had prior to tea at the WPR's residence.

1021. 02.12.00 ESSEX - FINCHINGFIELD: SOS & Val, SAR & N. After providing overnight accommodation to the SAR & N after a party in Chingford, the SOS decided to take advantage of a rare sunny day to go to the Countryside. He therefore drove the party to Thaxted for a walk, then to Finchingfield, where Lunch was had in "JEMIMA'S TEA ROOMS" which does not sound Bacchanalian but was licensed and bottles of beer were had to render it a constitutional Meeting.

1022. 18.12.00 LONDON SW1: Chair, WPR, Rick, SAR & N, Sec, GR, BS, SOS & Val. The traditional Christmas meeting in "OLD SHADES" attracted all traditional Members except the COB who was in Australia. The Chairman formally declared the meeting open at 20:00, about two hours after it started. Members recounted occasions when they had been apprehended by the Police in connection with crimes which, it should be noted, they had not committed.
