The most NORTHERLY and EASTERLY meeting of the Society was accidentally convened at around midnight by "Fred" Olsen, who was turfed out of a passing taxi near the party's campsite, with a crate of beer, which was consumed at the Meeting. At the close of the meeting, Mr. Olsen was taken back to Batsfjord, to rejoin the Norwegian Navy vessel from which he had deserted.

15/08/77 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: SAR, Rick, John, Staffan. Members were collected from the SAR's residence by Rick's father, to whom Staffan asked "Vere are we going, and vot are ve going to do?". The answer was, of course, to the PUB, to drink BEER. The venue was, in this case, the "FOX AND GRAPES", and the meeting was followed by consumption of Pernod until the early hours.
17/08/77 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: SAR, Rick, Staffan. A number of pints were had at the "HAND IN HAND", after which a wine bar was visited, and stronger drinks were had in a posh house in the Belvedere Estate. At this point the SAR partially, and at some times totally, lost his awareness of his surroundings, and threw up, but was later comforted by Rick who said that people were always doing that in the house in question.

The WPR was invited to participate in this research, though was not told about the distances involved, except in the broadest of terms. By the time he reached the "ROBIN HOOD AND LITTLE JOHN" he was desperate, and the Chair, needless to say, thirsty, such that they finished their drinks before the SAR had finished buying the round. There was no time to appreciate the unusual octagonal architecture, and the party continued, apace, to the "CHEQUERS", "FIVE BELLS", "ROSEMARY BRANCH", "RED LION", "UNICORN", "WEATHERVANE", and "ROCK HOTEL", setting up a record for the number of pubs visited in a single day by the Society.

2. 21/12/77 LONDON SW19 - MERTON: Convened by SAR; present Chair, WPR, Rick (Crooked Billet only). The meeting officially commenced at 1800 hrs. in the Grand Entrance Hall of Wimbledon Rail Communication Centre. The Chair arrived in this way and the SAR arrived on foot with the WPR. In adverse meteorological conditions, the expedition proceeded south-eastwards towards a little-explored place called Merton, but it proved a good area for Bacchanalian research. The first item on the agenda was the "WHITE HART" North Road, in which unusual service vessels were noted, and the natives spoke in a manner akin to Derek and Clive. Then the "SULTAN" was visited, and it was learnt that he wished that his ashes be spread over Spithead. The expedition then struck Merton High Street, an important trade route, went east, reconsidered, and went west, owing to eccentric enumeration among the indigenous dwellings. It entered the Rainbow Room, a recently established Chinese trading outpost, and partook of Chinese comestibles. A calendar was received as a diplomatic gesture. The expedition retraced its steps, and the SAR was accused of ignorance of the area, which was so. They entered the "KING'S HEAD" at the other end, and it was full of persons associated with motorbikes, an indigenous form of transport. Then it went to "THE NELSON" where the Chair noted the structure of the HMS Victory. The expedition retraced its steps again, westwards, and sallied into Kingston Road. The Chair expressed a vote of no confidence in the SAR, but the latter came upon the second "WHITE HART" and the former got excited, but was a bit put off by the voluminous and tardy bar service. Continuing westwards, "YE OLDE LEATHER BOTTEL" was reached. Here were some important native ceremonies in the first part, so the other end was entered, and the Chair addressed the Society on the habits of his Music masters, which the place in some way evoked. Further west, the expedition entered the "EMMA HAMILTON", who was, in fact, the mistress rather than the wife of Nelson. But she (it?) was spacious, had a classy juke box, which did not, however, satisfy the Chair's classical tastes, nor the WPR's punkish ones. There was also draught Carlsberg, showing the extent of Viking influence. Then the expedition climbed considerably, passing the Slips, which divided in two an important educational site. The entered the Hand in Hand to rendezvous with local experts, but the SAR somehow failed to achieve contact. Therefore supplies were obtained in the "CROOKED BILLET", outside of which the WPR suddenly noticed the local expert. A Mexican visitor was also noted. The Chair closed the meeting at about 2250 hrs. and made off in a huff. The WPR and the other bloke went off to a native hut to discuss matters of local significance.
