237. 15/03/86 LONDON W1 - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Convened by the Society; present Chair, WPR, Rick, Sec, SOS, Pete & Jane, IQ & Christine, GR, Josie. The venue was again the "CAMBRIDGE" in Goodge Street. A quieter and less populous event than previous AGMs, but a convivial evening after a rather slow start, and no repeat of last year's unruliness. Main Bacchanalian consumption; Greene King, IPA, Charles Wells Bombardier (soup thick), and gin combinations. Some administrative business was attended to, notably the investiture of secretarial functions formally with the Sec, who up till now had merely been exercising the rank of Gravesend Representative. Mr. Richard Doidge was allotted the responsibility for maintaining geographical aspects of the Society's activity, with the title of GR. The Chair delivered a public apology for failing to attend the 1985 AGM, and to curtail the lewd and lascivious behaviour of certain persons present, while Rick gave a succinct account of policy for the coming year.

238. 14/04/86 SURREY - SUTTON/CARSHALTON: Convened by Chair; present Sec. The Chair introduced the Sec to the nightlife of the London Borough of Sutton, namely the "GREEN MAN" in Sutton, and the "GREYHOUND", "SUN" and "RAILWAY" in Carshalton.

239. 23/05/86 LONDON W1 - SOHO: Convened by WPR; present Chair, Rick, Sec, COB. The "IMPERIAL" Leicester Square, followed by Chinese catering. A long evening's conversational consumption of IPA, Brakspears and gin combinations.

240. 26/05/86 LONDON SE14 - GREENWICH: Convened by Sec; present Chair, WPR. An unnaturally sunny bank holiday lunch time circuit of the following: "PRINCE OF ORANGE" Greenwich High Road; Stones & Lager, dull. "RICHARD I" Royal Hill; Youngs, pleasant if basic, outside seating, serious discussion of chemical elements as Christian names. The "SPANISH GALLEON" Church Street; Courage Best, passable lunch, very full and touristy, with hyperbolic promotional literature. The "GLOUCESTER HOTEL" William Walk; severe kitsch, and lager dominated bar. Followed by a leisurely circuit of Greenwich Park, inspection of the Naval College, and investigation of a public convenience with a ban on skate-wearing patrons.

241. 07/06/86 LONDON W1 - BLOOMSBURY: Convened by WPR; present Chair. A lunch time meeting at the "FITZROY TAVERN" Charlotte Street.

242. 07/06/86 LONDON SE1 - SOUTHWARK: Convened by Chair; present WPR, Sec, COB, Anth. An evening meeting followed at the "FOUNDERS ARMS" where Youngs etc. was consumed. Anagrams were composed of the Members present, thus: J.L. "Old Fool" Chimp Man, A Mad Westward Jet, Hon. Jill "Chainsaw" Bond, Iron-Meek V.C., Any Ten Holy Cats. In addition, Rick received an honorary anagram in his absence; "North Iran Ditchjars".

243. 09/07/86 LONDON W1 - BLOOMSBURY: Convened by WPR; present SAR & N, Rick & Judy. The meeting began in the "NORTHUMBERLAND ARMS", where Taylor Walker was consumed; it was cool outside, and not as continental as previously. It then moved to the "Break for the Border" restaurant for Mexican food, jugs of beer and sangria. Live music of diverse U.S. origins, except "Long Tall Glasses".

244. 12/07/86 LONDON SW15 - ROEHAMPTON: Convened by Chair; present SAR & N, WPR, COB. The meeting was convened at the "MALTESE CAT" at lunch time, in order to note the recent visit to Malta conducted by the Chair and WPR. Youngs beer was had in the beer garden at the back of the pub, overlooking a housing estate. After this, the COB made a sudden and spectacular departure on a 72 bus, and then a piscatorial lunch was had at Mr. Fish, in order to note the Chair's recent engagement to Miss Fish. There then ensued visits to the Wimbledon Village Fair, and to 49 Church Road, where tea was had by way of refreshment.

245. 12/07/86 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: Convened by Chair & K; present SAR & N, WPR, Ralph, Marta. The party assembled at the "DOG AND FOX", though this time the meeting was held in the Wine Bar and not in the actual pub itself, thus departing from the Society's constitutional norm. The wine bar was fairly empty, pre-conversion to a Cantonese restaurant. Then the party partook of food by way of hamburgers in MacArthurs, formerly Tootsies.

246. 16/07/86 LONDON WC2/SE1 - WESTMINSTER/SOUTHWARK: Convened by Sec; present SAR & N, GR (Sherlock Holmes only). The meeting began at lunch time in the "SHERLOCK HOLMES" Northumberland Avenue, where Abbot Ale etc. were consumed. There followed a tour of Kensington Palace, MacDonalds and Linley Sambourne House, and the meeting closed in the early evening in the "GOOSE AND FIRKIN", where Dogbolter and Earthstopper were sampled.

247. 24/12/86 LONDON SW19 - WIMBLEDON: Convened by WPR; present Rick, Aardvark-Bong. Christmas Eve in the "HAND IN HAND".
