Special Abilities
Parasite - For the most part, this ability is pretty useless. If you have some extra energy on your queen, put a parasite onto an expensive unit. A cheap unit may be easily sacrificed. Put a parasite on a zerg drone or overlord if you want to nydus into their base.
Ensnare - Units ensnared can't cloak, and move half as fast. This can let your mutas take on hydras. In a mass hydra Vs mass hydra battle, you will have a lot of extra units left over if you ensnare the enemy hydras. You can ensnare 3 times with each queen so this is very useful. Ensnaring cosairs will make it easier for your mutas and devourers to kill. Ensnared medics won't be able to move to heal hurt units as fast and they become almost useless. They will still heal adjacent infantry but you don't have to attack those.
Spawn - Automatically kills a non-robotic, ground unit. Not all mechanical units are robotic. This is the ability to use when trying to counter templars. Against zerg, spawn defilers and ultralisks. You can hit burrowed units so this is great if you want to infest a lurker filled base.
Swarm - This is an anti terran ability. Basically said, you can't shoot into any part of it. You can shoot out of it. Sunkens and lurkers and muta spores can get inside but a hydra inside can't kill another hydra inside. In the case of terran, only firebats can be used under swarm. Seige tanks can still do splash damage but the shots will be off. Send in your zerglings and ultralisks with swarm and they will be invincible under it. If you keep a few defilers inside your base, you can swarm your base when you get attacked. Air can't shoot into it and ground can't either so this can buy you time.
Plague - This is a slower version of storm but it's stronger. It can't kill anything either. It will eventually bring a unit's HP down to 1 but doesn't kill it. Units hit with plague can't cloak. Plague will not harm the shield on protoss. Only the HP will be affected. When you plague a group of attacking units, retreat so plague can take effect. It takes a while to work so attack when the HP is low. This is most effective against battlecruisers and tanks. After plaguing, a few mutas can finish off everything.
Consume - Killing one of your non drone, non flying units will restore 50 energy to a defiler. Consume zerglings or badly damaged hydras.
Infestation - Put your queen near a command center when the HP is red and the queen will take over it. You can then fly it away and make infested terrans.
