General Zerg Strategy
Zerg is the best race for those brute force players. The units are cheap and fairly small. You can get more of them into chokes to kill the enemy. Of course, an expert player will just brush off brute force attacks. I'm just saying if your going to use a brute force tactic, use zerg for it. Zerg has the overall strongest unit in the game: the hydra. Unlike goons, hydras shoot faster and it's also an medium unit. You can get 2 hydras for 25 minerals more than a goon and use the same number of supplies. Unlike marines, hydras do more damage and have more health. Sure they cost more but the key is you can build the same number of both and the hydra army will be much stronger. Contrary to popular belief, zerg has the worst detection of all 3 races. Sure, you start out with an overlord but it dies very easily. If you've ever played against a good protoss player, they might have molested your overlords and then sent in the cloaked units. If a protoss player has done a dt rush or a zerg player did a lurker rush, you can't kill them until you get your overlord speed upgrade. Zerg cannot attack a player that has made cloaked units in the early game because they can't get the overlords there fast enough (meaning you probably don't have the speed upgrade yet, not because overlords are slow). When you are attacking and you have a few overlords standing by, they can get irradiated. Being so strong, it will hurt many other units before it dies. The overlord is relatively slow compared to science vessels and observers with upgraded speed. If your overloads die in battle, it takes much longer for additional detection to arrive. Spore colonies is the only other form of detection. It takes the longest time to build out of cannons and turrents and getting dt/cosair rushed is practically a loss. |
