Choking the chokes - The real reason you build a terran defense is to make a choke smaller and easier to protect. This basic build is my most commonly used defense. All it really is is a bunker positioned nicely.

Using 2 barracks, you make the choke super small. Zealots and zerglings die very quickly if they try to come through. Hydras and ranged units though can still kill the defense. This is good early where you want to try to tech and not worry about getting attacked. |
| This is the defense you build if you want to tech really fast. This is how you build for the vulture/drone molestation tactic. The barrack and supply depot block off the entrance. The little space between the barrack and depot is the only place things should be able to move through. Put a marine there to block it. 4 marines is enough to defend against 6 zealots. You can put an scv there to block it if you want. The zealots will try to get around the scv but can't. You're in big trouble if you get attacked by terran. If you see someone using this, he is either really good or he's a newbie. When you finished teching or attacking with the vultures, lift off the barrack and move it to the left of the supply depot so your units can come out. |
This is an expert terran defense. Notice it looks similar to a tank push. In fact, it is a tank push. Notice no bunkers or supply depots are used. Irradiate or matrix when necessary. Someone attacking this has a much harder time getting through than someone attack the newbie one below. |
| This is the newbie defense. They block themselves off and line the sides with turrents. This is very easy to break through with protoss and terran. You can web or nuke. Zerg has to spawn the tanks or use guards. Then, swarm hydras to take out some of the 6 buildings. Once it is cleared, run your army in. Anything they have behind the defense is badly positioned and die easily. |
