Advanced Units

-Science Vessel - The single most important unit of the terran race. It is a terran's main form of detection. Don't rely on your scanner. It just isn't enough when your opponent has cloaked units all over the place. 8 to 10 of these in a long game will ensure an advantage. The +50 energy upgrade is a must. It's large size on the screen is useful for nuking. It has very good sight range and is great for scouting for nukes and yamato shoots.

-Ghost - Not a practical attacking unit. It does concussive damage and is a slot shooter. All you really need it for is locking down battlecruisiers, perhaps carriers, and of course, nuking.

-Tank (in tank mode) - Definitely not one of the advanced units but people don't realize these have a huge range. This is what you use to attack a lurker that wants into your base. It can safely hit a lurker without being damaged. Don't seige when trying to kill the lurker in your base. Use seige if you are attacking lurkers defending another's base. Don't seige if you don't need to. They become sitting ducks for zerglings and air units. The reason cannons are not good to defend with is because they can't move.

-Tank (in seige mode) - You would think a tank should be a basic unit everyone should use correct? Yes, it is a unit everyone should use but most people use it in the wrong way. This leads to blowing yourself up as you are overrun by melee. Select all your sieged tanks and manually assign targets for them. Aim for the most hazardous units first like templars. Then, kill the units as far away as possible. Aim for clusters of goons or hydras. Save that lone warrior for your marines and goliaths to handle. Having all your tanks attack one hydra is a waste of the splash damage. The last thing you want to do it aim for a melee unit like zealots or zerglings. This is how people blow themselves up. If you need to kill melee units, aim for the ones far away so you don't kill your own units.

-Vulture - These are cheap units that do 20 concussive damage. Watch out when using these with tanks. The move too quickly toward the enemy and end up getting blown up. With the speed upgrade, you can make hit and run attacks into enemy bases. Run straight to their mining and the drones will suffer.
