Often
times we find it difficult to hear God. Jesus said to His disciples when they did not
understand, "Do you not hear; are your hearts still hard?" Do you not hear; are
your hearts still hard? This tells us that when we have difficulty hearing or seeing
(perceiving), it is because we have hard hearts. We must guard our hearts with all
diligence to keep them from becoming calloused.
Though it costs you all you have, get understanding.
Proverbs 4:7
It does cost us to get understanding. We must be willing to feel. Our emotions are
one of God's ways of communicating to us. However, we have been taught all our life to
manage or control our emotions. Well do you manage or control your senses? No. You
exercise them so that you can walk, talk, eat, see, hear, discern (feel or smell) good
things from harmful things. So you see the emotions should do and will do the same for us
when they work properly. Read:
Hebrews 5:14; Proverbs 20:5 and Ephesians 4:17-32 and 19
Feel The Feel and Get Understanding
This is the council of God. Remember Proverbs
20:5. However, we must be aware that there is a liar who has said, "I will ascend
above the throne of God and be like the most high." So with this knowledge we
understand that Satan will and does rise up and lie to us. He tells us that all these bad
feelings are him, but he is a liar. For example: You feel rejected, and you are sad. Satan says, "That's
me.." NO! That is God telling you that you have embraced a lie. You are HIS, and you
are not rejected. You are His beloved. Remember this is a process of growing up. A baby
who does not yet have his senses exercised will pull his own hair and not know it was him.
The teenager will feel and think that every event is either the most awesome event in the
world, or the worst event of his life and how could anything get worse. However, mature
adults have their senses exercised and have understanding. It takes work and growth. So
feel the feel and seek God for the understanding. For like deep water, counsel is in the
heart. So be wise and draw it out. |
