Even though God
stands by everyone, no two people will grieve the same or heal the same. Denial, anger,
depression, acceptance are all stages in the healing process, and the healing doesn't stop
at a certain time.. God can heal us instantly, or He can slowly reveal what's in our
hearts healing us gradually as we become more pure in His eyes.
Allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you in the healing process. Remember that
the Comforter is the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to reveal what it takes to have a pure heart
before the Lord. It will be painful as the revelation of what's in your deepest, darkest
corners of your heart is exposed to you. Are there any lust, anger, disrespect, low
self-esteem, rejection, greed, self-centeredness, pride, shame, guilt, pain, disgust and
even hatred? Is it white as snow and filled with love?
When you are following God's revealed plan, and you come to painful times, remember that
the Holy Spirit is the Strengthener. Sometimes it may seem that you aren't going to make
it through. At such times, ask the Lord to strengthen you. He will always be with you to
lead you and strengthen you as you pass through the gateways to wholeness and purity. We
are not always delivered from our distress at the precise moment we call on the name of
the Lord. Sometimes we must endure for a while, be patient and continue in faith.
Pray to God that He show you your heart and be prepared for the answer. Remember, the goal
of healing and purity is not to "get over" it and its pain, but get through it.
Feel your emotions; offer them to God as a pleasing sacrifice.
Do not earnestly remember
the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now
it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will
even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their
distress and troubles. The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such
as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent. Many evils
confront the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The Lord redeems the
lives of His servants, and none of those who take refuge and trust in Him shall be
condemned or held guilty.
Psalms 34:17-19,22
Those who sow in tears
shall reap in joy and singing.
Psalm 126:5
...Fear not...I have called you by your names; you are Mine. When you pass through the
waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you
walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle you.
