Judgement
No matter who you are and how much you know, you are not always right. Even when you
are not right, it does not mean you are wrong. It may simply mean there is something you
cannot see, do not fully understand, or have not taken into consideration. Right and wrong
are judgements we make in response to our own perceptions.
Why do you criticize and pass judgement on your brother? Or you, why do you look
down upon or despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgement seat of
God.
Romans 14:10
Do not criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and
condemned yourselves. For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be
judged and criticized and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you use to deal
out to others, it will be dealt out again to you. Why do you stare from without at the
very small particle that is in your brother's eye, but do not become aware of and consider
the beam of timber in your own eye? Or, how can you say to your brother, "Let me get
the tiny particle out of your eye', when there is the beam of timber in your own eye? You
hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly
to take the tiny particle out of your brother's eye.
Matthew 7:1-5
So speak and so act as people should who are to be judged under the law of liberty - the
moral instruction given by Christ, especially about love. For to him who has shown no
mercy the judgement will be merciless, but mercy full of glad confidence exults
victoriously over judgement.
James 2:12-13
So be merciful, sympathetic, tender, responsive and compassionate even as your Father is
all these. Judge not and you will not be judged; do not condemn and pronounce guilty, and
you will not be condemned and pronounced guilty; acquit and forgive and release giving up
resentment and letting it drop, and you will be acquitted and forgiven and released.
Luke 6:36-37
...For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the
Lord looks upon the heart.
