Emotions
play an important role in the event of a crisis. They become the avenue by which we vent
our feelings of anger and pain, sadness and remorse. When we don't allow those emotions to
play their important role in the process of healing at the time of the event, they will
resurface in the future.
Anger is one of the strongest of human passions. When denied, it finds other ways to
express itself, often through bitterness and depression.
When angry, do not sin: do not ever let your wrath last until the sun goes down.
Ephesians 4:26
But now out away and rid yourselves completely of all these things: anger, rage, bad
feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances
from your lips.
Colossians 3:8
For God has not appointed us to incur His wrath. He did not select us to condemn us. But
that we might obtain His salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah.
I Thessalonians 5:9
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God's wrath; for it is
written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.
Romans 12:19
Prayer
"Oh God, I am angry, but help me let it go. I will choose to be merciful and
forgive the ones who angered and hurt me. Thank you for giving me the strength to forgive
and to follow in the steps of Jesus." |
