March 7-10 ARYA ABRA FESTIVAL Bangued, Abra A week-long observance of the foundation anniversary of the province of Abra highlighted by an ethnic cultural festival called Tingguian Festival and a bamboo raft race called Karerakit. March 10-16 ARAW NG DABAW Davao City It is a foundation day celebration of Davao as a chartered city. Activities are: selection of Mutya ng Dabaw, agro-industrial trade fair, cultural presentation, civic-military parade, selection of Datu Bago Awardees, Sports Activities and Pasasalamat rites. March 10 55th LIBERATION ANNIVERSARY OF ZAMBOANGA CITY Zamboanga City Celebrated with a mass and colorful motorcade, parade and wreath laying at Yellow Beach, landing site of the US Forces. March 16 HOMONHON LANDING Homonhon, Eastern Samar Re-enactment of the rediscovery of the Philippines by Magellan. March 16 SANDUGO RE-ENACTMENT Bohol, Tagbilaran City A re-enactment of the blood compact made between Spanish Conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna for the purpose of fostering friendly relations between the two countries. Activities include a Holy Mass followed by a Sandugo Re-enactment, unveiling of the Marker and then a barrio fiesta celebration. March 18 STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL AND LA TRINIDAD TOWN FIESTA La Trinidad, Benguet An actual tourism event featuring this strawberry festival and cut flowers sales and exhibits, trade and agricultural technology exchange. March 18-19 PENABLANCA TOWN FIESTA Penablanca, Cagayan A hearty town fiesta celebration with cultural presentations, dances, trade fair and games competition. March 18-19 BANANA FESTIVAL AND THE FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH Baco, Oriental Mindoro Street Dancing: Children in banana leaves costume dance in rhythmic beat, the only kind in the whole Province; a thanksgiving for bountiful harvests. Banana Cookfest: The best culinary artists display their ingenuity in cooking employing only ingredients out of banana; Very educational and entertaining. March 21 MAGELLAN TREK: MR. MAYAPAY CHALLENGE Butuan City It's a team competition held every 21st of March, which is ten days before the annual celebration of First Mass in the Philippines. It aims to make the first mass celebration more significant to the young generations who are not so familiar with their local history. The grueling competition is a combination of running, canoeing, mountain biking, and trekking. March 31 SINUGDAN FESTIVAL Limasawa, Southern Leyte The first Christian Mass in the orient was celebrated in Limasawa Island. This historic and religious event is commemorated with a cultural presentation and anniversary program dubbed as Sinugdan meaning beginning. |
