   'the supposed historical resurrection'

versus

'so well authenticated by evidence'

His Royal Highness Prince Aga Khan III

         Reincarnation or Companionship on High?

An article by Imam Hazrat Mowlana Sultan Mahomed Shah (s.a.s.)

Source: Africa Ismaili Kisumu Supplement, March 28, 1969

The Christian burial ceremony and the prayers then said by the presiding ecclesiastics refer to resurrection in a way that implies some kind of similarity with

THE SUPPOSED HISTORICAL  RESURRECTION OF CHRIST THREE DAYS AFTER HIS DEATH.

There is the undoubted implication in the Burial Service that a similar resurrection will in time be the fate of those who die in Christianity.

Just as the events of Easter Week become part of Christianity and the hope of men, so the death-bed scene of our Holy Prophet, so well authenticated by evidence, took place in the presence of his two cousins, Ali and Ibn-Abbas, his wives, and above all, his future great successor, the Caliph Omar, then one of his leading companions. All this evidence is exactly the same.

The last words of the Prophet were "Companionship on High."

The Aga Khan: "I am amazed by the ignorance of Islam"

PARIS - He is one of the spiritual leaders of Islam who best knows the land and the people of Central Asia, the area which holds the world in suspense. He is the Imam, the religious leader and guide of the Ishamilite, whose communities are spread in various countries of Asia and Africa, but also in Europe and in North America. Throughout Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and West China, there are more than five million Ishmaelite. ......

"I think that monotheistic religions, having an analogous belief in an only God, should and must dialogue. The three religions which Abraham inspired have many more common facets than those which divide them.

Religion must be a means by which to affirm the ethical significance of existence, irrelevant of one's faith. If we want social development, to meet halfway, to dialogue, peace, we cannot neglect ethics and the impact which education and culture have on social growth."

KAK: I pay attention to this pluralism of traditions. I situate my actions in the context of the [current] times.  My grandfather gave, and I have myself given, a certain interpretation to Shiism. The intellect is seen as a facet of faith, in the service of faith. Reason, reflection, form part of the process of decision making. This reflection is wished, is necessary in the interpretation of religion. This is one of the elements which has made it possible for the Ismaili Community to respond to the problems of [the modern world].

The Imam of the Shia Ismailis Prince Karim Aga Khan IV is the Spiritual Leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. At 20, in 1957, he succeeded his grandfather, the Aga Khan III. Born in Switzerland, living in France, 49th generation descendant of Prophet Muhammad, Karim Aga Khan completed his studies at Harvard University in America.

salaamun alaykum, š³lôm, peace, peace be upon you and ya ali madad

rest assured, if there was one thing that had divided the jewish, the christian and the muslim worlds right in the middle for all these centuries past, it was jesus' unfathomable divinity/trinity and  the above controversy.

question

where was jesus crucified?
in the great city of babylon?
in the great city of sodom?
in the great <megas> city
<polis> of EGYPT?

jerusalem?
QUMRAN?
or rome?

quagmire

'the verse luke 13:33; the epistle to the hebrews 5:6-9; 13:11-13' and 'the revelation 11:8, of jesus christ to st. john' combined have been seen as the bible's GREATEST 'INTERNAL'  obstacle which had, for the most part, plagued and divided the christian world since its infancy.

Hebrews 13:11 (KJVSL) For the bodies of those beasts <zoon>, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin are burned  without <exo> the camp <parembole>. Hebrews 13:12 (KJVSL) Wherefore Jesus <Iesous> also <kai>, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without <exo> the gate <pule>.

Hebrews 13:13 (KJVSL) Let us go forth therefore unto <pros> him <autos> without <exo> the camp <parembole>, bearing his reproach.

Heb 13:13   Verse 13. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp. As if we were going forth with him when he was led away to be crucified.....   Heb 13:13. His reproach. the christian pilgrimage: scriptural fact or fiction

please note that the writer of this epistle and the early christians did not go to an 'EMPTY and/or an UNKNOWN' tomb of christ - because there was 'NONE' in existence, in spite of what the 4 gospels have maintained in this regard.

rather, they went 'unto him without <exo> the camp <parembole>, bearing his reproach.'

therefore, where was 'jesus crucified and killed,' according to the above epistle only? it must be noted further that this epistle was written well over 1--one century AFTER jesus' worldly mission on earth.

PROOF THE New KING JAMES VERSION OF THE BIBLE IS
            CORRUPTED

By Will Kinney

When the
New King James Bible
departs from the underlying Greek text of the King James Bible.

the self-proclaimed jackass of the christian world

“I do,” says Jerry Fallwell. “I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough of the history of his life, written by both Muslims and non-Muslims, that he was a violent man, a man of war.”

“So, in the same way that Moses provided the ultimate example for the Jews and same way that Jesus provided the ultimate example for Christians, Mohammed provided the ultimate example for Muslims and he was a terrorist,” asks Simon.

“In my opinion,” says Fallwell. “And I do believe that - Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses. And I think that Mohammed set an opposite example.”

PAT ROBERTSON: Under no circumstances is Jehovah, the God of the Bible, and Allah, of the Koran, the same. First of all, the God of the Bible is a God of love and redemption, who sent His Son into the world to die for our sins. Allah tells people to die for him in order to get salvation, but there is no understanding of salvation.

says larry mitchell  -- [Friends of Israel]   God's standard is the 10 commandments given by the prophet Moses.

1.      Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (such as Buddha, A_l_l_a_h, Lucifer, Krishna or other pagan deities). God condemns all those who try to come "another way". John 3:36

2.          Thou shalt not bow down to any graven images. (including c_r_u_c_i_f_i_x_e_s, images of Mary, or Buddha). God condemns all idolaters. Revelation 21:8

3.    My conclusion: Mohammed was a false prophet, and the Koran is full of errors! Jesus is the Son of God, and He died for our sins.

'WHAT WE BELIEVE'

Jesus died and returned from death
so that all men may live forever.
You [muslims & the mad kenadian mullah
hahahaha!!!]  have a choice to say "yes" or "no"
to Jesus Christ.

I have NO creed but the King James Bible.

I need no other argument,
I need no other creed;
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me
'.

how true, valid and reliable are these bombastic christian claims? frankly, their authors' deliberate suppression or distortion of the biblical truth speaks for itself.

but then, these pious pauline christians are merely following in the footsteps of saul/ paul of tarsus, the one and only true founder of their pauline christian faith.

2 Timothy 2:8 (KJVSL) Remember that Jesus <Iesous> Christ <Christos> of the seed of David was raised <egeiro> from <ek> the dead <nekros> according to <kata> my <mou> gospel <euaggelion>:

additional proof

Romans 3:7 (KJV) For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? 2 2 Corinthians 12:7 (KJV) there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

did moses succeed in his mission? well, see what the torah says in this regard.

Exodus 7:1 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Deuteronomy 32:48 (KJVSL) And the LORD <Y@hovah> spake unto Moses  that selfsame day saying Deuteronomy 32:50 And die <muwth> in the mount  whither thou goest up , and be gathered unto thy people as Aaron <'Aharown> thy brother died <muwth> in mount  Hor  and was gathered unto his people :

Deuteronomy 32:51 Because ye trespassed <ma`al> against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah - Kadesh <Qadesh>, in the wilderness of Zin ; because ye sanctified <qadash> me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

faith power works wonders.

Allah called his followers to kill you, rob you, and rape your wife, if you refuse to submit to Islam.

the torah speaks for itself again.

the pentateuchal ORIGIN of 'jihad -- holy war'

Exodus 34:14 (KJVSL) For thou shalt worship no other <'acher> god <'el>: for the LORD <Y@hovah>, whose name <shem> [is] Jealous <qanna'>, [is] a jealous <qanna'> God <'el>:

Matthew 10:34 (KJV) Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:35 (KJV) For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. Matthew 10:36 (KJV) And a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household. Matthew 10:37 (KJV) He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:38 (KJV) And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

'and contend with him in battle'

Deuteronomy 2:24 (KJV) Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess [it], and contend with him in battle.

Jude 1:3 (KJV) Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

this then, is the irrefutable biblical truth.  yet, these pious individuals have taken upon themselves to not only vilify islam and its holy prophet [sas], but also wilfully  misrepresent their bible and thereby MISLEAD the uninformed and misinformed christian world. allow me to explain further.

crucial teachings

i.     'the other <allos> Comforter <parakletos>'

ii.    'shall TEACH <didavskw Didasko (did-as'-ko)> you all things'

iii.    'expected' to appear AFTER jesus' departure and NOT BEFORE

John 7:39 (KJV) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

John 14:16 (KJVSL) And I will pray the Father and he shall give you another <allos> Comforter <parakletos>, that he may abide with you for ever John 14:26 (KJVSL) But the Comforter <parakletos>, [which is] the Holy Ghost whom the Father WILL SEND <pempo> in my <mou> name <onoma>, he <ekeinos> shall TEACH <didavskw Didasko (did-as'-ko)> you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you.

a[lloß Allos (al'-los);  Adjective, Strong #: 243

another, other

Another Comforter. Jesus had been to them a counsellor, a guide, a friend, while he was with them.  But he was about to leave them now to go alone into an unfriendly world. The other Comforter was to be given as a compensation for his absence, or to perform the offices toward them which he would have done if he had remained personally with them.

paravklhtoß Parakletos (par-ak'-lay-tos);  Noun Masculine, Strong #: 3875

  1. summoned, called to one's side, esp. called to one's aid

    1. one who pleads another's cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate

    2. one who pleads another's cause with one, an intercessor

paravklhtoß Parakletos - Comforter
the designation of the Holy Ghost (John 14:16,26; 15:26; 16:7; RSV marg., "or Advocate, or Helper; Gr. paracletos").
The same Greek word thus rendered is translated "Advocate" in 1 John 2:1 as applicable to Christ. It means properly "one who is summoned to the side of another" to help him in a court of justice by defending him, "one who is summoned to plead a cause." "Advocate" is the proper rendering of the word in every case where it occurs.

so, WHO was 'the other <allos> Comforter <parakletos>, like unto jesus, the first parakletos? remember that jesus christ was a human being, son of mary - and also an israelite 'prophet LIKE UNTO moses'.

Acts 3:22 (KJV) For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up 'unto you of your brethren, like unto me'; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Ac 3:22. This passage is found in De 18:15-19.

Ac 3:22
Moses truly said; De 18:15-19. Like unto me; Christ was like unto Moses ...

1.    Mark 6:3 (KJV) Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

2.    Matthew 1:16 (KJV) And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

3.     Matthew 1:18 (KJV) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

procreation

4.      Luke 1:34 (KJV) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? Luke 1:35 (KJVSL) And the angel <aggelos> answered and said unto her The Holy Ghost <pneuma> shall come <eperchomai> upon <epi> thee <se>, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee  therefore also that holy thing which shall be born <gennao> of thee shall be called <kaleo> the Son of God.

'a prophet like unto moses'

1.    Deuteronomy 18:18 (KJV) I will raise them [israelites] up a Prophet from among their brethren [ishmaelites], like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. Deuteronomy 18:19 (KJV) And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto 'my words which he shall speak in my name,' I will require [it] of him.

jesus' interpretation or contradiction: 'the Spirit of truth - he shall not speak of himself'

John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

john's expectation and contradiction

2.    Matthew 11:2 (KJV) Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
Matthew 11:3 (KJV) And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another

3.    John 1:19 (KJV) And this is the record of John,
when the Jews sent priests and Levites from
Jerusalem to ask him,
WHO ART THOU?
John 1:20 (KJV) And he confessed,
and denied not; but confessed,
a.     I am not the Christ <Christos>.

John 1:21 (KJV) And they asked him, What then?
b.     Art thou Elias <Helias>?
And he saith , I am not.

c.     Art thou THAT PROPHET <prophetes>?
And he answered, No.

John 1:24 (KJV) And they which were sent were
of the Pharisees.
John 1:25 (KJV) And they asked him,
and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then,
a.     if thou be not that Christ <Christos>,
b.     nor Elias <Helias>,

c.     neither <oute> THAT PROPHET <prophetes>?

in other words, jesus was not a 'prophet like unto moses' - but rather, his advent was prophesied by prophets esaias and malachi- or so says - john the baptist.

if so, how else was the deuteronomy 18:18-19 (kjv) PROPHECY FULFILLED during the biblical era? and that's not all.

the 'other <allos> Comforter <parakletos>, had to be a human being like unto jesus, the first parakletos. please also note that according to the archangel, jesus was ONLY 'called <kaleo> the Son of God.'

meaning: he was NOT the physical 'son of god' and/or physically begotten by god himself. there is absolutely no divine proclamation to this effect in the 4 gospels themselves.

on the other hand, he was declared as the 'god's beloved son' ONLY AFTER he had been baptized by john the baptist and not before. according to the gospel account, jesus was said to be 30 years old at  the time.

dove: masculine/neuter gender

Douay Rheims (John1:32) 32 And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him. [dove - masculine gender] John 1:32 (KJV) And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. [dove - neuter gender]

Luke 24:39 (KJV) Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

John 6:63 (KJV) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I [jesus] speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

Luke 3:22 (KJV) And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Matthew 3:16 (KJV) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

The Spirit of God. See Mt 3:11. This was the Third Person of the Trinity, descending upon him in the form of a dove, Lu 3:22. It is a symbol of the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2; Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32);

this then  - i.e., 'gender-neuter-fleshless-boneless' conglomeration of the holy ghost - transforms the whole concept and composition of the so-called 'divine trinity' both in the bible and the christian faith, as follows.

the holy trinity was also made up of:

1.     god, the father ;
2.     god, the son ;
3.     god/dess - the feminine holy ghost.

The Holy Ghost in the shape of a bird – a dove or a pigeon – is a very ancient pagan tradition. The spirit was originally female so that the Trinity consisted of two masculine principles and a feminine one, the latter being the procreative or regenerative principle. At the imposition of Patriarchy the sex of the Holy Ghost altered from female to neuter.

John 14:26, the Holy Ghost is a person or personal God.
Luke 3:22, the Holy Ghost assumes the form of a dove.
Matt. 13:16, the Holy Ghost is a spirit.
John 5:7, the Holy Ghost is a God—the third member of the Trinity.
Luke 3:22, the Holy Ghost appears with a tangible body.
Luke 4:1, the Holy Ghost is a God within a God, Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 21:11, the Holy Ghost is a being of the masculine or feminine gender—Thus saith the Holy Ghost.
John 1:32, the Holy Ghost is of the neuter gender, it (the Holy Ghost) abode upon him.
Matt. 1:18, the Holy Ghost, this third member of the Trinity aids the first member (the Father) in the creation of the second member of the trinity of bachelor Gods—the Word, or Saviour, or Son of God.

By several of the early Christian sects, the second person in the trinity was female, as was also the Holy Ghost.

In a "fragment of a gospel preserved by St. Jerome, and believed to have been from the original Aramaean Gospel of St. Matthew, with additions, the Holy Ghost (ruach), which in Hebrew is feminine, is called by the infant Savior, 'My Mother, the Holy Ghost.' "[142]

[142] Barlow, Essays on Symbolism, p. 135.

Christianity a Continuation of Paganism -- (continued).

the holy trinity was made up of:

a.     god, the father
b.     god, the son ;
c.     mary, Theotokos, the Mother of God.

Galatians 4:4 (KJV) But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

please note this main difference between - a past participle of beget and the adjective - 'beloved' -- and the actual timing of the said pronouncement. there is nothing in the 4 gospels to even remotely suggest otherwise - save forced interpretations and conjectures.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJVSL) Prove <dokimazo> all things <pas>; hold fast <katecho> that which <ho> is good <kalos>.

dokimavzw Dokimazo (dok-im-ad'-zo);
Word Origin: Greek,  Verb, Strong #: 1381
  1. to test, examine, prove, scrutinise (to see whether a thing is genuine or not), as metals
  2. to recognise as genuine after examination, to approve, deem worthy

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Verse 21. Prove all things. Subject everything submitted to you to be believed to the proper test. The word here used (dokimazete,) is one that is properly applicable to metals, referring to the art of the assayer by which the true nature and value of the metal is tested. Cmt. on 1Co 3:13. This trial was usually made by fire. The meaning here is, that they were carefully to examine everything proposed for their belief. They were not to receive it on trust; to take it on assertion; to believe it because it was urged with vehemence, zeal, or plausibility.

{h} "Prove" 1Jo 4:1
{i} "hold fast" Php 4:8

Calvin said, "By the term `prophesying' I do not understand the gift of foretelling the future, but the science of interpreting Scripture." F33 In this light, therefore, "proving all things" and "holding fast to that which is good" would be exemplified by the ancient Bereans who "searched the scriptures daily, whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). Even today, in finding the difference between what is true and what is false, there is no substitute for searching the word of the Lord.

Even today, in finding the difference between what is true and what is false, there is no substitute for searching the word of the Lord.

although most pauline and the trinitarian christians or the judeo-christians profess their unshakable faith and belief in their lord jesus christ, the holy ghost [the 2nd and the 3rd  principles, respectively of the so-called divine 'trinity'] -  as well as in paul,  - the ORIGINAL founder of this faith, how many of them truly and dutifully accept and follow their teachings? please allow me to explain.

failed prophecy

'a prophet could not perish elsewhere than in Jerusalem'

Luke 13:33 (KJV) Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the [day] following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Lu 13:33
Verse 33. I must walk, &c. I must remain here this short time. These three days I must do cures here, and then I shall depart, though not for fear of Herod. It will be because my time will have come, and I shall go up to Jerusalem to die.
For it cannot be that a prophet should perish out of Jerusalem. I have no fear that Herod will put me to death in Galilee. I shall not depart on that account. Jerusalem is the place where the prophets die, and where I am to die. I am not at all alarmed, therefore, at any threats of Herod, for my life is safe until I arrive at Jerusalem. Go and tell him, therefore, that I fear him not. I shall work here as long as it is proper, and shall then go up to Jerusalem to die. The reason why he said that a prophet could not perish elsewhere than in Jerusalem might be--

"It cannot easily be done elsewhere; it is
not usually done. Prophets have generally perished
there,
and there I am to die. I am safe,
therefore, from the fear of Herod, and shall not
take the advice given and leave his territory

the 'feminine' principle

By several of the early Christian sects, the second person in the trinity was female, as was also the Holy Ghost

Luke 13:34 (KJV)/Lu 13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her 1brood under her wings, and ye would not!

l. Literally, "the nest": now the brood of chickens is the nest.

Learn, 1. That the ruin and destruction of sinners is wholly chargeable upon themselves, that is, on their own willfuness and impenitency, on their own obstinacy and obduracy. I would have gathered you, says Christ, but ye would not.

Lu 13:34
Together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not! Jesus repeated these words again as recorded at Mt 23:37-39. With such beautiful imagery does Jesus set forth his tender love for the people of that city which he knew would soon compass his death.

contradiction

and despite jesus' claim, prediction and preparation thereof, the christian bible shows that jesus was crucified elsewhere - probably as far as qumran, sodom, egypt - and/or the great city of babylon - in our present day iraq.

question

where was jesus crucified?
in the great city of babylon?
in the great city of sodom?
in the great CITY OF EGYPT?
jerusalem?
QUMRAN?
or rome?

your choice:   'crucified <stauroo> Strong #: 4717: in the street of the great city -- Sodom and  Egypt' -- the testimony of Jesus Christ

Revelation 1:2 (KJV) Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ,  ..... Revelation 11:8  (KJVSL) And  their dead  bodies shall lie in the street of the great <megas> city* <polis>, which spiritually <pneumatikos> - [metaphorically, or allegorically]; is called Sodom <Sodoma> and  Egypt <Aiguptos>, where also <kai> our Lord <kurios> was crucified <stauroo>

'the great city'*  -- what did this enigmatic phrase mean and who/what did it represent in the new testament?

for all intents and purposes, this was another form of derision only. it was used for 'the great city of babylon'  aka 'that woman' both of which were held in sheer contempt for the most part. see Revelation  16:19; 17:18; 18:10; 18:21.

from 4716; to impale on the cross; figuratively, to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness:--crucify.

    1.    addition/alteration:

Re 11:8
      8. dead bodies--So Vulgate, Syriac, and ANDREAS. But A, B, C, the oldest manuscripts, and Coptic read the singular, "dead body." The two fallen in one cause are considered as one.

Re 11:8   Barnes  Verse 8. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street. Professor Stuart, "Shall be in the street." The words "shall lie" are supplied by the translators, but not improperly. The literal rendering would be, "and their corpses upon the street of the great city;"

   2.    omission:

JFB the oldest manuscripts omit "the great" before city, so that it forms no exception.

3.     interpretation:

Re 11:8
      8. dead bodies--So Vulgate, Syriac, and ANDREAS. But A, B, C, the oldest manuscripts, and Coptic read the singular, "dead body." The two fallen in one cause are considered as one. the great city--eight times in the Revelation elsewhere used of BABYLON (Re 14:8; 16:19; 17:18; 18:10,16,18-19,21). In Re 21:10

COF - Of the great city ...
"This phrase never refers to Jerusalem." F50 What does it mean?

  Re 11:8
The great city; the seat of the persecuting power; supposed to be Rome, or places distinguished for wickedness under her control.

  Re 11:8
And their dead bodies shall lie in the 13street of the great city,
13. That is, openly at
Rome:

'the great city'*  -- what did this enigmatic phrase mean and who/what did it represent in the new testament?

for all intents and purposes, this was another form of derision only. it was used for 'the great city of babylon'  aka 'that woman' both of which were held in sheer contempt for the most part. see Revelation  16:19; 17:18; 18:10; 18:21.

however, was jesus ever crucified in the great city of babylon, rome, sodom or egypt?

and yet, we have a scripture text which actually states that - as per the testimony /revelation of jesus himself - rev 1:1,2.

but then, this is not a typical example by any means. in fact, there are a few more contradictions in the new testament in this particular regard.

on the other hand, in spite of its untold atrocities, jesus never referred to jerusalem, as either 'the great city, that woman, sodom or egypt,' etc.

we must also note that all 4 gospels have asserted plainly that jesus was cruci_fied in calvary or golgotha, i.e., a place of skull.

failed prophecy

'a prophet could not perish elsewhere than in Jerusalem'

Luke 13:33 (KJV) Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the [day] following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

where was calvary or golgotha?

      rev 11:8 [EGYPT OR SODOM]

or heb 13:12,13 [QUMRAN-DEAD SEA]

or deut 23:10-12? [QUMRAN DEAD SEA]

was it within jerusalem?
or just outside the city limits?

Qumran

the epistle of hebrews by paul or barnabas

what is more important to note is that the author of hebrews 13:11-13, supposedly barnabas -- tells us that jesus was not crucified at any of the places mentioned in the 4 gospels and most certainly, NOT AT JERUSALEM either.

rather, he points to a different location altogether. I will let Dr. Barbara Thiering shed some light on this matter:

vi. a. The gospels say that the place of the crucifixion was known as "the place of a skull". This in itself indicates a graveyard, one of most striking features of the land surrounding the Qumran* buildings [Jesus the man, under 'the crucifixion,' pp. 151]

The location lay outside the southern entrance gate to the Qumran* complex ..... A new testament verse says that Jesus suffered "outside the gate" and "outside the camp" ...... (ibid.  pp. 150).

The above is also verified by another important christian source, like so:

The site of the crucifixion:  Jesus was crucified "outside the city" (John 19:17,20; Hebrews 13:12). At a place called "the skull" (Matthew 27:33; Mark 15:22; Luke 23:33 John 19:17) -- (Halley's Bible Handbook, under, 'Mark,' pp. 481).

The place of crucifixion according to the said epistle:

The bodies of the animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sin offering are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus _d_i_e_d_ outside the gate, to sanctify the people by his own blood. Let us go to him outside the camp ..... (Hebrews 13:11- 13).

Numbers 15:35 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

Joh 10:31
Verse 31. The Jews took up stones. Stoning was the punishment of a blasphemer, Le 24:14-16. They considered him guilty of blasphemy because he made himself equal with God, Joh 10:33.
Again. They had before plotted against his life (Joh 5:16,18) and once at least they had taken up stones to destroy him, Joh 8:59.

{f} "The Jews" Joh 8:59

It was both "outside of the gate" and "outside the camp" phrases used for the place where Jesus was crucified in Heb. 13:12-13. The latter phrase means a latrine in deut 23:12 (Jesus the man, under 'the crucifixion,' Locations, pp. 445/46).

see also under, 'the essene quarter of jerusalem,'  ['jesus and the dead sea scrolls' - edited by James H. Charlesworth, pp. 214].

i.    barnes:  Heb 13:12   Without the gate. Without the gate of Jerusalem, John 19:17-18.

ii.    The place where he was put to death was called Golgotha, the place of a skull, and hence the Latin word which we commonly use in speaking of it, Calvary, Lu 23:33; comp. Cmt. on Mt 27:33.

iii.    Calvary, as it is now shown, is within the walls of Jerusalem;

iv.    but there is no reason to believe that is the place where the Lord Jesus was crucified, for that was outside of the walls of the city.

v.    The precise direction from the city is not designated by the sacred writers, nor are there any historical records, or traditional marks, by which it can now be known where the exact place was. All that we know on the subject from the New Testament is, that the name was Golgotha; that the place of the crucifixion and sepulchre were near each other; that they were without the gate, and nigh to the city, and that they were in a frequented spot, John 19:20

Where is Qumran*?

ix.     Qumran* -- Home of the Scrolls To get to Qumran, where the dead sea scrolls were discovered, you hire a car in Jerusalem. ..... The road winds along the side of the mount of Olivet, on the east side of Jerusalem, through Bethany, and downwards towards Jericho and the Dead Sea.

Qumran, in the wilderness of Judea, had been the place of exile of the Essenes since at least the second century BC. ((Jesus the man, under 'the crucifixion,' pp. 47).

so, where and how was jesus crucified and killed? no one can tell us for sure.

more questions than answers

1.    He was crucified

The Message (MSG)
Hebrews 13

12It's the same with Jesus. He was crucified outside the city gates--that is where he poured out the sacrificial blood that was brought to God's altar to cleanse his people.

2.    Jesus suffered and _d_i_e_d_

Hebrews 13:12 :: Amplified Bible (AMP)
Hebrews 13
12Therefore Jesus also suffered and died outside the [city's] gate in order that He might purify and consecrate the people through [the shedding of] His own blood and set them apart as holy [for God].

Hebrews 13
12So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates in order to make his people holy by shedding his own blood.

3.    Jesus _d_i_e_d_

4.    Jesus was put to death

Hebrews 13
12   So also Jesus was put to death outside the town. Then he could make the people holy by his own blood.

Basic English - Heb 13:12

For this reason Jesus was put to death outside the walls, so that he might make the people holy by his blood.

5.    Jesus also

KJV Heb 13:12 Wherefore Jesus <2424> also, <2532> that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered <3958> without  the gate.

Hebrews 13:12 (KJVSL) Wherefore  Jesus <Iesous> also <kai>, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered <pascho> without the gate.

Hebrews 13:12 (ASV) Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate.

note: as just seen, we more different versions of the one and the same event. therefore, which of these versions or translations can we rely on with absolute certainty?

  Hebrews 13:12
Calvary | Encamp | Gate | Golgotha

The crucifixion of our Lord took place outside the city walls (Hebrews 13:11-13) and near the public thoroughfare. "This thing was not done in a corner." (See GOLGOTHA .)

meaning:  no matter how you look at it, the testimony of jesus plus the other biblical evidence and references just cited, will take us through several mid-eastern countries including the destroyed city of Sodom, 'where <hopou> also <kai> our <hemon> Lord <kurios> was crucified <stauroo>'.

the above disputes show that the gospel writers and all those who claimed to be witnesses of the cruci_FICTion including jesus  himself - were not even sure of when and how it happened. thus, we have all kinds of inconsistencies and contradictions given in the new testament.
