Collected Demos and Studio Outtakes - "...culled from various cassettes received in trade 1989-1991. I hadn't seen "Rough Mixes and Outtakes" or "83 Demo" before, and haven't seen them since. Quality varies widely from very listenable [tracks 1 through 10] to damn lo-fi [tracks 20 and 21]. I've cut those tracks from the ROIR Rough Mixes and Outtakes that do not significantly differ from their released versions. Speaking of, the Rough Mixes and Outtakes are subject to their own special kind of degradation which can actually be overlooked in light of the "unearthed" nature of the recording. Kind of like riding a carousel. I have no idea who's singing on track 20. "80 Demo" is constructed from the best of two slightly differing sources. In all cases, generational loss has some degree of impact upon the recording, and some hiss remains after noise reduction." - 45:06 minutes - Source: Unknown Studio(s) -> Unknown Generation Cassette -> wav -> Sound Forge 4.5 [noise reduction, normalization] -> cd wave [splits] -> FLAC - Available in FLAC or Audio WAV - PUNK-1

Earl's Birthday - "The famous "Earl's Birthday" gig. A furious performance, a great mix, and a seemingly low-gen source. Another source of this set was released as the "Rebel In the City" vinyl boot. This source was purchased on cassette at a North Carolina record show in the late 1980s.I've nearly worn it out listening to it since. My source begins with a cut version of "I" which I discovered was actually an inferior version of their encore included at the end of the cassette. I believe many sources of this gig contain the same error.Ii've removed the inferior version from the beginning of the set. The song remains, in its full version, at the end of the set, when it was originally performed. Some hiss remains after noise reduction, and there's an occasional tape warble you'd expect from a 15 year old cassette, but still an easy 9 out of 10." - 45:05 minutes - Source: SDB -> Unknown Generation Cassette - > wav -> Sound Forge 4.5 [noise reduction, normalization] -> cd wave [splits] -> FLAC - Available in FLAC or Audio WAV - PUNK-1

Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day - "The title refers to an unreleased set of ten tracks that Frank recorded with the Catholics in San Francisco in 2000. Frank wasn't completely happy with how the sessions sounded and decided against a commercial release. He handed a few copies out at shows and they were eventually posted to the Internet by fans. There was no cover art; the original CDs were white with a track listing on the back of the case. A few quotes from the man himself on SSMVGD: "I don't think 'Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day' sounds very good. And there were some mistakes on a couple of the takes, and some of the songs needed a lyric re-write, so there were a few things we weren't happy with. It doesn't really sound like a record; it's just a session, I think most of it actually is coming out in some form or another, like on b-sides and compilations."

David Bowie

08/19/72
Rainbow Theatre
London, England
Starman Over the Rainbow - "In August '72 Bowie staged a couple of special shows known as "The Ziggy Stardust Shows", including the Lindsey Kemp mime troup and a specially built stage. This is a release of the only known tape of one of these shows. The sound quality is so-so, but it doesn't matter. The tape ends in the beginning of Moonage Daydream, and I'm sure that at least Rock'N'Roll Suicide was played too? The bonus tracks are mostly BBC recordings, but some studio outtakes as well. One song has never been available on disc before, and that is Something Happens. It sounds like it was recorded around '71. The other odd song is Don't Be Afraid, which only has been available on the LP, Stardust From The 70'S (1984) before. Here it is presented in better sound quality."

New York, NY
Vampires Of Human Flesh - Outtakes, demos, and alternate versions from the Scary Monsters sessions - recorded February to April 1980. "Bowie returns to New York to start work on Scary Monsters album at New York’s Power Station. After two and a half weeks only It's No Game No.2 was entirely complete. The rest of the tracks were left as instrumental and shelved until Bowie had a chance to revisit them with fresh ideas for lyrics. Also recorded during the sessions was Crystal Japan, intended to close the album before the It's No Game No.2 reprise took its place. It was released a single in Japan in March. The album was completed in April in London at Visconti's Good Earth Studios. The LP marked the return to a more conventional style of writing as Tony Visconti had witnessed. ‘He actually sat down and wrote the songs for a change, for David, this is good form."

Buckner Box - Live in 1996 - 48:26 minutes - "Notes: Three stunning, perfect quality soundboard shows and two radio appearances from one of the strongest songwriters around, period. I assembled this as the 'Buckner Box' around 1998, after having received (them)...in trade. In order to make this fit onto 3 CD's, back when I got the box together, the odd gap of long silence, or lengthy tuning, etc., was removed to allow the music to flow more organically. So, please keep that in mind; if you are looking for shows that are in no way tampered with, look elsewhere. I have taken great pains to insure that there is a natural and non-edited feel to the shows, and I didn't take anything out that would damage the integrity of the performance." - Source: SBD > DAT > CDR > FLAC - Available in FLAC or Audio WAV - LF-10
