Rare and Unrelease - 45 minutes - Various dates late 70s - No info other than these titles: "Brand New Cadillac", "ESP Disco", "Hey! Fascist", "I'm Into C.B.", "Jazzed Up Punk Shirt","My Condition", "Pop Sticker", "Session Musician", "Surrogate Mirage". Most of these sound like the early Fall with organ, and many may come from the same source - Source: Master Cassette > ? > Cassette - Tape

Complete Show - With Sound Check! - 81:21 minutes - "I recorded my cassette of this directly from the master. I even used the original machine on which it was recorded to dub from. My 1st generation cassette was rarely played, although a copy was played almost to death. The 1st generation tape was fed directly into Cool Edit 2000 with no sound “enhancements” made at all, just fade-in and out and a stitch-together at the tape-flip. The taper missed the very start of the show, so there is a fade-in to “Leave The Capital”. The show has previously only been in limited circulation, but certainly never from such a low-generation source, and never in complete form. A C-60 of this show was once in circulation, which omitted the soundcheck and tracks 9 and 10. I happen to know that this tape was made from a 3rd- or 4th generation master onto really cheap, horrible tape and, as it’s still occasionally traded now, I can only assume they all have their roots from that. Time to upgrade." - Source: Master Cassette > Cassette > Cool Edit 2000 > WAV > FLAC - Available in FLAC or Audio - Excellent! - FALL-2

Someone who was at the gig and who also has the tape remembers the announcer's comments at the end of the gig. Apparently someone in the Fall entourage gave this guy's girlfriend a tape of the gig. Also be warned that there's another tape circulating that takes a few of these tracks and mixes up the running order. That recording runs about 45 minutes; the better recording runs about 70 minutes and the beginning of "Impression of J. Temperance" is cut." - SDB > ? > CDR(Tape) - Tape and CDR (two sources)

Probably sourced from cassette, it had the typical one channel loss of clarity that most cassettes acquire through age, abuse and lack of head cleaning. I gave it a full treatment: slight compression, EQ, spatial spread, slight clarity enhancement and the final multi-band digital maximization. Complete Show - "This is an awesome recording of The Fall's last date of their November/December 1997 tour in support of the excellent, and oft under-rated, Levitate album. Amongst many nuggets from that album are a very rare performance of The Quartet of Doc Shanley (complete with erroneous DAT from Julia of On My Own from the much later Marshall Suite album at the end) and a blistering Ol' Gang, replete with MES on messy guitar... The up-for-it crowd were also treated to several surprising oldies, not least The Container Drivers which the band had re-introduced into their set at Cambridge, two nights before. It seems to have been a cracking night, if the reaction of the crowd is anything to go by - some great reports from the night at http://www.visi.com/fall/news/971211.html ." - Source: 1st generation tape of DAT recording -> Total Recorder -> Cool Edit Pro -> CD Wave -> Flac Compression Level 8 - Available in FLAC or Audio - FALL-11

Complete Show - "This is a comical gig, with plenty of instrumental versions and the whole gig coming to a rather ugly end during Everybody But Myself, with Hanley throwing his bass down on the floor and throwing a mic forcibly at Mark's shin before storming off stage with Burns and Crooks. Cue the funniest version ever of Cheetham Hill (it's actually rather groovy), with just Julia's DAT for company, and performed in a similar fashion to Powder Keg from that, er powder keg of a gig three nights later in New York City. The middle section of the gig really picks up, so it's not all doom and gloom, but rest assured this performance will never win any 'Best Live Act' awards. The quality of the recording isn't too hot, with Mark's vocals (what few of them there are) quite low down in the mix, and Julia's keys fairly quiet too. I've done my best to enhance the sound, but you can't polish a turd, more's the pity...Reviews of the gig, in all its unfolding horror (including stories of a hockey puck being kicked out into the audience by Mark, and other general tomfoolery by the main man), can be found at the foot of http://www.visi.com/fall/news/980405.html and top of http://www.visi.com/fall/news/980410.html. ." - Source: Unknown generation copy (audience recording) -> CD -> Exact Audio Copy -> Cool Edit Pro 2.1 -> CD Wave -> FLAC Front End (level 5)c - Available in FLAC or Audio - FALL-11

An excellent audience recording of one of the better gigs on the infamous 1998 US mini tour. There are little crackles here and there but that's from the equipment on stage, not the recording / mastering." - Source: Audience DAT (gear unknown) > DAT > Sony PCM300 > Tascam CDRW700 > CD - Extract: CD > eac > flac - Available in FLAC or Audio - FALL-8

Complete Show - 56 minutes - Excellent sound - "This gig probably goes down as the most legendary performed by the band due to the on-stage shenanigans that occurred, the collapse and self-destruction of the 'old' Fall in front of New Yorkers, and the subsequent arrest of MES, which we need not ponder here.
An excellent audio recording, beefed up in Cool Edit Pro, and sourced from a very amateur video of the night (one for a later seed, methinks), the gig isn't half as bad as people make out. Indeed, aside from the fisticuffs, and general Smith nastiness particularly towards Tommy Crooks, musically it's a solid enough performance, aside from some boredom exhibited by Mark (barely any vocals until Burns correctly points out there's "no singer...where's the f-ing singer...you COCK ?!") and the relating of events prior to the gig (being held at gunpoint by a Pakistani "or someone", whilst the rest of the band "cower in the dressing room AS USUAL")." - Source: Amateur video footage shot by member of audience -> DVD (? generation) -> DVD Decrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Cool Edit Pro 2.1 -> CD Wave -> FLAC Front End level 6 - Available in FLAC or Audio - FALL-12

Renfrew Ferry

Complete Set - "The Fall spark a near riot on a quiet Sunday evening in Glasgow. The gig was a veritable game of two halves, things going sedately until Sparta FC then the crowd never looked back. Top marks to the brave bouncers who gamely tried to keep the crowd in check and failed miserably. The lack of and late introduction of epic bass is down to one Mark E Smith, amp fiddler extraordinaire. Vocals are pretty low in the mix for a lot of the set but don't let that put you off. The band are on top form. Doubt very much if they'll be back at the Ferry soon but they should be over the moon at the crowd's reaction - well, other than the psycho gropers that is." - Source: Audience Master Recording > Sony >Sony MZNH700 - PCM > USB > WAV Recording/Editing : Cooledit 2000 > Track Splitting : CD Wave Flac Conversion : FLAC Frontend v1.7.1 - Available in FLAC or Audio WAV - FALL-15
