Ball Point Pen
Like many inventions, ball point pen was an invention out of necessity. It was invented by a Hungarian proof-reader Ladislo Biro. Ladislo's job demanded reading first prints of manuscripts to find out and correct printing mistakes. The problem was with the use of conventional pens. They had to be dipped in ink for writing, and always had the danger of spilling and blotching the pages.
To find a solution to his problem, Ladislo got the inspiration of making a pen which would not require to be dipped in the ink. After a lot of trial and errors, Ladislo and his brother hit upon the idea of putting a metal ball at the tip, and then filling up the pen with paste-like ink. And so, the first forerunner of today's ball point pen was born.
