How to Construct Underwater
According to the science of Bionics, all solution to human problems exist somewhere in nature. Ranging from a bat's sonar sensing to a bird's capacity to fly, nature has solved problems in an elegant and economical manner. It is natural, therefore, that inspiration for many novel ideas have come from nature.
One such was the method for underwater construction. Once Sir Isumbard Brunel was travelling on a ship. One day he was standing on a side watching the waves, when he noticed how a shipworm makes a tunnel in the timber. The worm constructed a tube for itself as it moved forward. Thus, the classical notion of cassions was born in Brunel's mind, and the problem of underwater construction was solved.
