Lower Caverns

The lower caverns are rather empty at this time of day except for a few people busily washing dishes or starting on the next meal. Curious as you are, you take a look around before looking for the headwoman who will direct you to the individual weyrs.

The main cavern is large and extends back into the cliff quite a ways. About half of one side is exposed to the weyr bowl. Adjacent to the main cavern, are more caverns, smaller you suspect. You can hear women talking from inside these smaller rooms as they go about their food preparation activities. There are tables and benches which have recently been used, by the disarray. The wall between the main cavern and the smaller caverns has various holes in it near the floor. In each hole, there is fire being used both to cook food, and heat both rooms. Very efficient, you think.

By now your presence has been noticed, and a middle aged woman is making her way towards you. Her long, light brown hair is pulled back from her face. She is plump but not fat. As she gets closer, you notice her blue eyes, and dimples as she smiles at you.

"Oh, you've just missed breakfast! We may have a few rolls left, and some klah. Are you hungry?" she asks.

Graciously you accept her offer and make yourself comfortable until she returns.

"My name is Lorin and I am the headwoman at Jerdan Weyr. You don't look familiar to me at all," she admits as you take a bite.

Answering, you tell her that you are just visiting and would like to meet the dragonriders of Jerdan Weyr and have been directed to see her.

For a moment, she is deep in thought and you wonder if you have said someting wrong when a bronze fire-lizard appears from between.

Orion

"Thank you Orion," Lorin says gently taking the small piece of hide from him as he assumes a perch on her shoulder.

Handing the hide to you, she says, "here is something that may help you."

The hide contains a list of the resident dragonriders and their weyrs.

"Oh, before you go," Lorin catches you before you run off, "my assistant, Danis has just organized the Store Room. You should see it."
