T'rish and Vinath Vinath was, as usual, sunning himself on the ledge of his weyr. That meant that T'rish was probably nearby. There are actually three people inside when you enter. T'rish, as usual, is on the winning side of a game of cards. His unfortunate opponents are C'dinak, rider of brown Urath, and T'remal, rider of brown Lorth. Two fire-lizards, a gold and a brown are sleeping on top of T'rish's wine rack. T'rish, now bronze Vinath's rider grew up in Bitra and the tricks of cards were part of his "education" in the hold. As a youth, he apprenticed at the winecraft at Benden until he was Searched. Having been warned ahead of time, you know not to accept any invitation to play a casual hand or two. "We just finished a game if you want to jump in for the next," T'rish cheerfully invites to to join. "I think I'll just watch this round, if that's O.K." you tactfully try to escape his invitation. "If you're afraid of losing, don't be. You will," T'remal reassures you. "C'dinak and I have been playing all afternoon against this guy. He's good." Before you can refuse again, C'dinak adds his endorsement, "Today we are just playing for fun. No bets." "It's the only way they would play," T'rish beamed. "I can't help it if I'm good." Considering it's all in fun, you can't help but join in. "Well, in that case, deal me in." It is C'dinak's turn to deal. By the end of the hand you see the reason for the warning. T'rish has won again. "Does he always win?" you ask the brownriders. "Usually," T'remal rolls his eyes. "But not consistently."
