| The Work Force was created by Leland McCauley to be his own personal super-team in response to the formation of the Legion of Super-Heroes by RJ Brande, a long-time rival. The team originally started out with Ultra Boy, Karate Kid, Spider Girl, Evolvo and Inferno but was soon joined by Live Wire after he resigned from the Legion at the insistance of UP President Chu. The Work Force met the Legion during a mission to save Planet Hell, a prison asteroid located within the heart of a sun, and assisted the Legion in their battles with the White Triangle and Dr Regulus. After losing Ultra Boy, Live Wire and Inferno, McCauley hired on Particon, Radion and Blast-Off but when McCauley refused to send the Work Force to aid the task force being formed to face the sorceror Mordru, the three new members disobeyed his orders and joined the task force. Blast-Off died in the battle and Particon and Radion both resigned from the Work Force shortly afterwards. Karate Kid also resigned to join the Legion. After the invasion of the UP by the Blight, McCauley fired Spider Girl and Evolvo and hired adult post-humans to his new,mature Work Force, which also had Lori Morning as a member. During he year in which McCauley has been president, he has replaced the Work Force with the Oversight Watch. |
