ATM

The first ATM was installed in 1969 by Chemical Bank at its Rockville Centre, New York branch. A customer using a coded card was dispersed a package containing a set sum of money. The total teller was only developed in 1971.

The ATM's inventor, Don Wetzel, got the idea in 1968, while waiting in line at a bank.

ATMs offer a full range of services: cash withdrawal, deposit of cash and cheques, transfer of money and payment of bills. Who needs to queue up for hours at the bank during office hours when you can do your banking between 7am and 11pm?
