Staff
Rabbi Steve:
Steve is both the Executive Director and Rabbi.  He is always a busy man, and generally he is the one responsible for fundraising for the organization.  He leads our staff meetings and decisions about the budget usually fall on his lap.  He is also the campus rabbi, so he leads Shabbat services each week with the student songleader (Zack), oversees rituals for Jewish holidays, and conducts weekly Talmud or Torah lessons.  Very rarely does he do programming, but this year he was vital in planning our 5K Bagel Run around campus, and our Rabbinic Conversation series.
Jocelyne:
Jocelynes title changes depending on who shes talking to, what shes doing, the weather; its really quite funny and a running joke in the office.  I think you could call her the Office Administrator.  She is responsible for cutting checks, organizing the budget, sending mass mailings (together with the receptionists), overseeing the cleaning and reservations of the building, ordering food and much more!  She is a fun, amazing mother and woman who is a major cornerstone of UCSB Hillel.

Josh:
Josh is the Program Director and JCSC Supervisor.  He works with the student leaders of Hillel and any student that comes to us with an idea and wants to plan a program.  He also has a famous M&M machine!

Jen:
Thats me!  Im the Senior Hillel Steinhardt Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellow.  Yeah, thats another running joke, my title.  I work for and with students who are seeking or have not yet found a Jewish connection on campus.  The main groups I work with are freshmen, women, grad students, students interested in the Spitzer Forum, and other groups like the vocal ensemble.

Tyler, Beth:
These are two amazing women whose jobs are incredibly important.  I guess you could call them the receptionists and both of them are part time, but together cover the phones, the database, mailings, letters, publicity and reservations for events full-time!  They are students, so its always great to get their opinions about programs and what students would like.  Beth should be here next year, but Tyler is graduating.  Good luck, Tyler!

Student Receptionists:
These are Hillel students who answer the phones and staff the building after staff hours.  They work Monday through Thursday from 5 pm to midnight and on Sundays from 2 pm to midnight.  Thanks for your help Bobby, Shira, Galeet, Cari, Keren, Carly and Dori!

Staff Structure:
So Steves the boss.  He sort of meets with Josh and Jocelyne on an as-needed basis.  Josh oversees me, the JCSC Fellow.  Josh also oversees the student receptionists who cover the evening shifts, and oversees Tyler when it comes to updating the website.  Generally, when it comes to the receptionists, this work is cleared through Jocelyne, as she is generally the one asking them to do work.  As a staff we meet once a week (Steve, Jocelyne, Josh, myself and normally the student President, Polly).  We normally go over the calendar and make sure all of our bases are covered.  We also talk about organization stuff.  Once a month, there is a community board meeting (community members on the Hillel board, who help guide Hillels future vision) and an Executive Committee meeting (the smaller group that presides over the organization and its budget, long-term planning, etc.).

COMMUNITY/EXECUTIVE BOARD:

This is the adult board of our Hillel, comprised mostly of community members, donors and parents who oversee the overall mission of Hillel and deal with long-term planning and fundraising.  The Executive Board is the smaller group of officers who make decisions and then report to the Community Board, the group who facilitates other UCSB Hillel efforts such as our annual fundraiser, a Parent Network, and Grandparents Weekend.  Both boards meet about once per month, and normally Hillel staff attends either one or both of these meetings.
