| HSJCSC Fellowship stands for the Hillel-Steinhardt Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellowship. Everyone calls it the JCSC Fellowship for short, but since Michael Steinhardt is really the visionary (and philanthropist!) behind this initiative, I like to give him full credit! In fact, he even offers to pay for your honeymoon if you marry another HSJCSC Fellow-very cool! If you get a chance to meet him, you should say hi! In general, you are responsible for engaging or reaching out to new students who are uninvolved or unaffiliated. Your job is not to get them to join Hillel, but to bring Judaism to them and make them realize that Judaism can relate to their lives in many creative ways that they would actually find interesting-through art, music, community service, and eating! The fellowship is really divided into two major categories: your job on campus, and your job as part of the greater corps. |
