Restoring the Body's Balance
When we think of a brick building, we see a strong, sturdy, and stable
building. If a piece of brick was to come off, the building would become unbalance,
weak, and unstable. Eventually, this missing brick would cause the other bricks to
move and become weaker, and in the end, the whole building becomes weak, and
unhealthy. Your body works the same as a brick building. If a stress is placed upon
your body, your body will become unbalance. When that happens, your other body
parts and systems start to become unbalance and you become unhealthy or sick.
What herbs do to fix this problem is restore the body to its neutral balance. To do
this, herbalists give patients herbs that can cure the problem, not the symptom(s).

Now let us go back to the building idea. One missing brick is the reason why all
the other bricks are a little shaky and why the building is weak. A bad move is to try
and fix all the bricks from being weak. A good move would be fixing the problem and
replacing the missing brick so that the building and all of the other bricks will be
strong and sturdy again. That is exactly what herbal medicine's objective is: fix the
problem, not the symptoms. What drugs do is focus on all the weak bricks that have
been affected by the missing brick. In other words, drugs will only remove the
symptoms, and continue to remove the symptoms until the problem (the missing brick
and the source of the body's pain) is fixed.
